If only you could control the outcome… No parent imagines their tiny infant growing up to have an addiction. Your once precious child now makes frightening choices and takes terrifying risks. You are worried your son or daughter’s use of drugs or alcohol has reached a sufficient level of concern that you are exploring or have already admitted your adult child to treatment. You are hard-wired as a parent to love, provide, protect, nurture, and rescue your young, just like every other mammal. You’ve ranted and punished, cried and pleaded, and it may have felt like nothing seemed to ...

Helpful for those who love someone with addiction
Revisado: 02-05-25
This is a concise book with a lot of information for those dealing with someone within an addiction. I was looking for information on aftercare, and this book helped explain the different types of sober homes and the important ingredients necessary to facilitate recovery. It also explains the disease and different treatment stages, and how families can best help their loved ones struggling with addiction. The AI narration had several glitches, but you could still understand what it was saying.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Resilience and Love
Revisado: 12-14-24
Two brave sisters survive WW2 in France despite the horrors of the Nazis. Gripping story that captures the reader’s attention. It is a good reminder today of a tragic period of anti-semitism.

Historia
Against all odds, three Slovakian sisters have survived years of imprisonment in the most notorious death camp in Nazi Germany: Auschwitz. Livia, Magda, and Cibi have clung together, nearly died from starvation and overwork, and the brutal whims of the guards in this place of horror. But now, the allies are closing in and the sisters have one last hurdle to face: the death march from Auschwitz, as the Nazis try to erase any evidence of the prisoners held there. Due to a last minute stroke of luck, the three of them are able to escape formation and hide in the woods for days.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

An amazing man
Revisado: 10-24-23
Great book that gives insight into what Elon Musk is all about. Always wanting to help humanity he is fueled by many moods that push him beyond what most are incapable of. I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for this planet and beyond.
