Chapter 51 -The Report is worth 2 credits alone

I found myself giggling and guffawing, chuckling and chortling through this book. Travis is one of my all time favorite narrators but as an author his ability to capture the insanity and train of thought of the insane is brilliant.

Structure, characters, story arches, prose make this one a jewel. But that jewel has to share the spot light with Noah Ward the narrator. Travis has found the next audio narrator great. This is Nick’s only book I see in all of audible but by the gods I hope it is just the first of many.

Well done Gentleman, well done!!

Dragged on and on and on and on

This one just dragged on and on. The monumental descriptions that go nowhere!! This book would have been ok if it was 10 hours and all the nauseating descriptors where cut in half. This one went no where and took forever to get there! I’m done with this series.

Solid Start

Good plot, Good narration and interesting angle on the litrpg genre. I usually do not like the books included with my membership, but I like this one. If you’re a fan of the sub-genre then you’ll enjoy this audio book.

Travis is one of my top 3 narrators. He does not disappoint here as a narrator.

His first attempt as an author is solid. Not doubt drawing on his numerous engagements as a narrator.

My only surprise was the lack of any real battle. I mean really none at all, there is tension and a climax but no fight scenes or real magic development. It is an interesting take. I didn’t mind the lesbian relationship that blossomed. It is done tastefully and that sort of thing doesn’t bother me but I didn’t think that’s it progressed the story and seems to be done out of sheer wokeness. It may be critical for future books though.

In the end it had great was a very well written book. But light on the fantasy aspect. I’m not even sure what type of fantasy to classify it as. Not high, dark or epic that’s is for sure. LGBT fantasy? Not really as there is less that a few minutes even detonated got the thoughts of the female orc and her employee the female succubus. Which come to think of it is not an ideal situation having an owner hit on an employee.

Ah well, it’s Travis Baldree for goodness sake just go ahead and by it. Will end up buying the next one but will be during a lull in other available books I’m looking forward too. I have about over 300 titles in the fantasy genre and am run into dry spells at least a few times a month.

Travis if you read this, we’ll done. If a sequel is on the way let’s add some real fantasy fight scenes. Having the main character quite the adventuring life and start a coffee shop and then resist having to not pick up a sword again and succeed does leave one wanting a bit in the end.

Great story. Massive progression. Only complaint is I could not tell the difference in two of the main characters voices. Made it a little hard to follow at times.

Supporting cast stuck in stupid

Mercy is a non stop one dimensional, stuck in stupid side kick. Her constant broken record dialogue of “you’re bad I can’t trust you” is maddening!!! I mean the whole darn book!! Annoying as it gets. Over and over!! I wouldn’t even get into the broken record that is the MC or the other sidekicks. It’s Groundhog Day no character development.

No I cannot recommend. Even Luke can’t pull this one out of the dumpster! Go buy something else.
