Not bad, but could be better.
Revisado: 07-27-24
Left a lot to be desired. simplistic story, basically non-existent conflict, rushed finish, and a rather dim FMC. And what the heck happened to Pit? They just disappeared and are never mentioned again. Narration basically kept the book alive.

Narration ruins it
Revisado: 06-22-24
I REALLY wanted to like this book. The plot seemed right up my alley. But the narrator absolutely butchers the voices, the women sound whiny, the children sound like nails on a chalkboard, and she clearly has never heard a man or person with a Scottish accent ever in the entirety of her life.

Did not Finish. Painfully bad narration.
Revisado: 02-14-24
I wanted to like this book, I really did. the reviews seemed good and I had had it recommended to me by a few people. But I just couldn't force myself to get past the couple hours. It's just a dirt poor performance. The story had an interesting premise but I was so distracted by the narration that I couldn't focus. Look, I understand these things have a budget but maybe next time the producers could spend 5 dollars more for someone who actually has kind of an idea what they are doing. The guy was eh, all of his characters had the same sounding batman gravel voice. I could have gotten past that. But the woman's voice was so obnoxious that I found myself rolling my eyes ever time she was talking. It's like she couldn't decide if she wanted to be a 16-year old girl or a Xanax addicted suburban soccer mom that couldn't find where she hid her 5th bottle of merlot. Just straight bad.

Coldbreath is an amazing world builder but this fell very flat for me. I really like her Karadok series but this just felt like smut with onlh a bare storyline. I didn't feel very invested in any of the characters. Overall eh.

Narration makes it almost impossible
Revisado: 08-14-23
I love this series and it is incredibly disappointing that Paul Woodson isn't the narrator. This guy's normal speaking voice is fine, I guess, but the voices he gives anyone with a brogue makes every single one sound the same. All women, regardless of age sound like they are in their upper 80s. I was so excited to see this title coming to audible but what you get is almost not worth it.

If I have to hear "dual colored eyes" once more
Revisado: 07-21-23
Overall, eh. Not le Veque's strongest book. The male lead was far from sympathetic, the female lead was annoying, and if I had to hear "dual colored eyes" one more time, I thought I was going to scream. We get it, Katheryn. He has heterochromia. Find a different description.

It's ok
Revisado: 01-06-23
I used to really dislike Anne but she's ok once you get used to her. Story is alright, it's more nostalgic for me than anything. The lead man is a bit over bearing, rhe lead female is a bit whiny but overall they are alright. It fills the time so that's all I really ask of it. Could it be better? Sure, but it also could be much worse.

Disgusting
Revisado: 01-02-23
20 straight minutes of listening to a kidnapper talk to his abductee about how he is going to rape and forciby impregnate her.
This is not the kind of garbage that should be published. The summary says nothing about this. The author should feel ashamed for puting this misogynistic b.s. out in the world.

Warlock Nate Hawthorne just wants a cup of coffee. Is that too much to ask? Apparently. Because instead of precious caffeine, all he gets is cursed by a pack of werewolves who want to use him for his magic. Now the only way to fix the damage is a mate bond to a grumpy and oh-so-sexy alpha in the rival pack, who happens to hate him. This is so not how he wanted to start his day.

Meh
Revisado: 07-01-22
I have a weak spot for paranormal romances, especially when the human and supernatural worlds seem to intersect in mundane ways. But this book left me pretty disappointed. There really isn't much in regards to world building or setting the stakes, you don't know who is who or why things are supposed to work the way they do. The characters are bland and you don't really get to know them anyway. Is it the worst book I have ever listened to? No, but it really doesn't do anything. I just wish Audible would let me return the title, guess I am just out $13.

When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

A fun light hearted listen with not much at stake. my biggest complaint is that the choice of accent for the cars is atrocious and painful but skipping those parts won't cause you to miss anything important. Overall, a worthwhile listen. looking forward to the next installment.
