Historia
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Narrator AND story greaty
Revisado: 08-04-24
RC Bray deserve a shout out at the top of the review, his narration is truly in a class of its own - and I listen to a lot of audio books. The story is also great, it kept me interested through out and it was well written. Great to get the band back together again.

Excellent story, well written
Revisado: 07-28-24
Yes, it's just the Weimar republic set in outer space, but it's very well written and the story really captures you. The change of narrator is however highly irritating, just stop that and bring back Scott Aielo

Historia
Years after the first interstellar colony ship departed from Earth, a contagion known as the Vemus spread across all mammalian life on the planet, giving rise to monstrosities that nearly wiped out all humanity. Hundreds of years later, the interstellar colonists sent an expeditionary force back to Earth to help the survivors. Among the refugees were a cadre of human survivors who had adapted to resist the Vemus by becoming a hybrid of both.

Revisado: 05-20-24
Wow, this was a very entertaining middle act to close up one story arc and set the stage for the next one. And it was very well done, I almost did the audio book in one sweep.

Historia
Naval Officer Jack Samson thought a posting to the frontier of human-inhabited space was the death blow to his career. He couldn't have been more wrong. A routine inspection of a small merchant vessel leads to devastating loss and the discovery of strange, fascinating objects. As astonishing discoveries unfold, a mysterious and hostile ship proves that Samson has a competitor in unlocking the secrets of an ancient alien civilization and that humanity might not be alone in the galaxy after all.

This was a good book.
Revisado: 04-29-23
The focus was on the storyline and there was almost no filler content. Fast paced and it kept me wanting to listen more even when it was time to sleep.
The characters including the main protonagist was a bit two dimensional. And the it's not hard science fiction if that is your thing.
But I really liked it.

Historia
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look is more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Entertaining space opera
Revisado: 10-10-22
If you expect something like The Brothers Karamazov you will be disappointed.
But it's entertaining, with crisp dialogs and humor sprinkled all over.
I enjoyed it, and Scott's narration is spot on.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

One of my favorite sci-fi books
Revisado: 04-26-22
This is one of the few books in my library that I have listened to multiple times. Mark Boyett delivers a solid narration.
The technology in this book isn't used as magic and plays its proper role of supporting the storyline.
The main character isn't a one dimensional caricatures of a hero, the overall storyline makes sense and keeps you on alert and wanting more.
This is one of my favorite sci-fi books and I highly recommend it.

A bit far out and a little "shattered"
Revisado: 02-09-22
Mark Boyett is very good narrator, so the audio book is a very good production.
I found the storyline to be a little to far out for me, sometimes it felt more like a psychedelic mushroom trip in a sci-fi/VR setting than a the space operas I usually like to read.
The author describes very epic and grand scenes, and perhaps those more visually inclined than me appreciates those more.
It wasn't the worst, nor the best book I've read.

After almost a century of peaceful exploration and colonization of space, the United Earth Space Force stumbles across a shockingly xenophobic alien race that has more and better armed ships and refuses all attempts at contact. As the outgunned Space Force is driven back in battle after battle in what appears to be a war of extermination, one officer experiences precognitive visions that help him blunt the enemy onslaught, but he can't control or predict when they occur.

Revisado: 01-21-22
I'm a big fan of space operas, and I really enjoyed the book. The only thing I missed was a little more insight into the world outside of the spaceships and military.
Luke Daniels is always a good narrator and I'm fully satisfied with the reading of the book.
