Historia
In April 1975, Ralph White was asked by his boss to transfer from the Bangkok branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank to the Saigon Branch. He was tasked with closing the branch if and when it appeared that Saigon would fall to the North Vietnamese army and ensure the safety of the senior Vietnamese employees. But when he arrived, he realized the situation in Saigon was far more perilous than he had imagined. The senior staff members there urged him to evacuate the entire staff of the branch and their families, which was far more than he was authorized to do.

Exciting History
Revisado: 03-03-24
Learned a lot about what it was like in Saigon after our military had left. Well written, a bit self serving, but still an exciting story. Asked my pilot friends about flying a DC3 and they thought White was a lucky man. It would be interesting to know how people fared over the years.

Enjoyed Book, and did finish
Revisado: 02-19-24
good start and first part good but then slows and becomes boring. Also a little complex with three themes: the taken, her history, her relationship with others and Harry. Ending too romantic and hard to believe

Historia
Porter Beck is the sheriff in the high desert of Nevada, north of Las Vegas. Born and raised there, he left to join the Army, where he worked in Intelligence, deep in the shadows in far off places. Now he's back home, doing the same lawman's job his father once did, before his father started to develop dementia. All is relatively quiet in this corner of the world, until on old, retired FBI agent is found killed. He was brutally tortured before he was killed and clues at the scene point to a mystery dating back to the early days of the nuclear age.

good but one sided history
Revisado: 06-16-23
tells story of buffalo soldiers in Indian wars of western states as a review of their action.
many names are given, too many to follow and too one sided. no mention of actions on the natives and treat all encounters as battles. Does not do justice to wounded knee and other events that would have placed soldiers in unfavorable review.

this is a very enjoyable account of the life of a fighter pilot in ww2. it is not set with drama and excitement, but instead in warm moving and relatable to what it must have been like to go through it.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Historia
They called him Mickey Free. His kidnapping started the longest war in American history, and both sides - the Apaches and the white invaders - blamed him for it. A mixed-blood warrior who moved uneasily between the worlds of the Apaches and the American soldiers, he was never trusted by either but desperately needed by both. He was the only man Geronimo ever feared. He played a pivotal role in this long war for the desert Southwest from its beginning in 1861 until its end in 1890 with his pursuit of the renegade scout Apache Kid.

Reads like a grade B thriller movie. Very predictable plot, way too much fluff, little character development. Scott Brick voice was tiresome but with the constant overly descriptive action, not much else he could do. It could have been worse, it was Not Boring but it was not very good

Historia
Right from the start, Bigger Thomas had been headed for jail. It could have been for assault or petty larceny; by chance, it was for murder and rape. Native Son tells the story of this young black man caught in a downward spiral after he kills a young white woman in a brief moment of panic. Set in Chicago in the 1930s, Richard Wright's powerful novel is an unsparing reflection on the poverty and feelings of hopelessness experienced by people in inner cities across the country and of what it means to be black in America.

Makes one think and decide
Revisado: 06-20-21
A classic book and MR. James did an outstanding performance. I enjoyed the book but would disagree with Richard wright position that a man is a sole product of his environment. the book does drone on a bit too much but does lead us to a conclusion and a position of thought.
