AI Not Contemptible!
Revisado: 04-20-25
Very well known and enjoyable story in the Sherlock Holmes series. No review needed on that account. As AI Narration varies greatly in quality, it's worth noting that this is pretty good. Neither too monotonous nor jarring. One obvious error in the reading of the word "read"in the present rather than past tense, was the only error noted.
For free or low price this was a perfectly reasonable listen.

What Fun!!
Revisado: 01-13-25
A heroine overflowing with both sense and sensibility uses her skills with intelligence and bravado. There is not one circumstance she is not up to meeting ,nor does she once wait upon a man for either advice or rescue. A delightful romp of a romance and the narrator was spot-on. So good, that I several times thought had I been reading the print I might have put the book down, thinking certain points too unbelievable, but the narrator really carried the right tone, and carried the characters individuality remarkabley well.

Historia
“What am I, bologna?” Mary Rodgers (1931-2014) often said. She was referring to being stuck in the middle of a talent sandwich: the daughter of one composer and the mother of another. And not just any composers. Her father was Richard Rodgers, perhaps the greatest American melodist; her son, Adam Guettel, a worthy successor. What that leaves out is Mary herself, also a composer, whose musical Once Upon a Mattress remains one of the rare revivable Broadway hits written by a woman. Shy is the story of how it all happened.

I knew almost nothing about the NY Theatre World and enjoyed this thouroughly. What a woman and what a life. The interview style with footnotes was handled masterfully. My interest was sparked and I learned a great deal. There are plenty 5 star detailed reviews, so I will just say read 'em, believe 'em, and enjoy this superb biography!!

A Credit To The Master
Revisado: 10-17-22
To my ear, the narrator's pacing and vocal
characterizations are spot-on. Providing a pleasure, bordering on the hedonistic to this listener. Indeed, I say it was a, no, I shan't use the now hackneyed "B" word. Let me suggest simply that Mr. Frye must certainly have applied some of the good 'ole Brillantine on his locks to bring out the lustre of this crown-worthy performance!!

Masterful Trollope tale very well told! Voice characterization overall was spot on, and I found that of the minor character Hopkins to be particularly so, and thereby the more moving.

Such Fun!
Revisado: 01-27-22
The voice actors capture the spirit and tone of the play beautifully. The addition of sound effects, though occasionally a bit jarring, nicely helped to emphasize the farcical nature of the play.

Irreverent, charming, and eminently quotable, this handbook - an eccentric etiquette guide for the human race - contains 69 aphorisms, anecdotes, whimsical suggestions, maxims, and cautionary tales from Mark Twain’s private and published writings. It dispenses advice and reflections on family life and public manners; opinions on topics such as dress, health, food, and childrearing and safety; and more specialized tips, such as those for dealing with annoying salesmen and burglars.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 11-05-20
I enjoyed the way the material was introduced and organized. Twain's stories are a pleasure to hear and the narrator did an excellent job of not over-playing his character, which would be a natural temptation considering the author's larger than life persona and his lively, colorful stories.

Conrad Himself Would Have Enjoyed This!
Revisado: 12-04-17
So clearly I have taken great liberty with that statement, but having read several of Joseph Conrad’s books multiple times over the course of a lifetime, I can assuredly tell you that Kennth Branagh’s reading of the text was to my mind, spot on, with just the right degree of feeling for the intention of the author. I’m sure that if the fates allow me a future reading of The Heart Of Darkness it will be Mr. Branagh’s voice I will hear intoning the genius of Mr. Conrad.
