Not for 12 year olds!
Revisado: 02-02-25
The style too little like true fantasy for my taste and more like unrated romantasy, but I might have finished and enjoyed it for what it was if I weren't reviewing it for a 12+ crowd. At the very beginning there is an explicit sex scene and not long after the F-bombs with no real precipitating factor begin. I know this is considered suitable for the New Adult crowd and is increasingly accepted as even late teen appropriate, but it is in no way middle school fare. 12 year olds are typically 6 & 7th graders!

One Big Hug
Revisado: 01-05-25
If you're looking for a story that is very sweet, with life being the main antagonist: this is it! I wanted to give everyone a hug and the end felt like a hug from the author to her readers. It did an admirable job of showing that if you stick to the Lord's path for you, He will provide. I will say that is felt more like a middle book.
Just very pleasant.

Historia
When Lady Saren defies her father’s command to marry the vicious Lord Khasar, she is sealed in a tower with only her serving maid, Dashti, for company. In their cramped, dark space Dashti pours her thoughts into a daily journal while pitiless solitude engulfs them. At first the girl is optimistic: they have food aplenty, candles for light, and even a visit from Lady Saren’s true love, Khan Tegus - though he can only call to them from outside their walls. But their circumstances soon grow desperate.

Deliciously Epic Feel
Revisado: 12-25-24
Shannon Hale had me again with a story that makes you think about the lives of women long ago in yet another culture. The story felt lush, then stark, then triumphant in a lyrical departure from Hale's typical style that felt at once natural and unique as it carried you along for the ride.

Engaging story
Revisado: 12-25-24
You never want to stop listening to what comes next! I loved this series and shared it with my 10 year old niece who had it on while she listened every moment she could! We were done in just a few days. It was even better watching her react, then hearing her talk back to the characters and offer them advice!

His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.

Fun, Bookish Nerdmance
Revisado: 12-25-24
Loved this story for just what it was: a light, feel-good Hanukkah romance akin to Hallmark's typical holiday fare. It jumps in, takes you for a sweet ride and ends in a sadly modern happily ever after. (If you're going to give me a year later epilogue I simply need more.) Wholesome enough, without any foul language or sexual content. Closed door.

Historia
The murder trial promises to be the most sensational to hit Chicago in years. And attorney Briley Lester knows it could make—or break— her career. The tabloid headlines are screaming that a long-mistreated society wife has killed her abusive husband—the scion of one of the city's wealthiest, most powerful, most dangerous families…. It seems like a hopeless, open-and-shut case, but Briley is becoming more and more convinced that her client truly is innocent. A tragic secret, almost too shocking to be believed, could be the key to proving it. But before she can bring the truth into ...

So well written and researched!
Revisado: 11-25-24
This book used virtual voice, but the storyline being brilliant and taut, the voice being particularly good and the court procedural nature of the novel made it work! I typically hate virtual voice, but could not put this one down because the affect on the voice was better than usual, but flat enough to make you think you're watching old Law & Order!

Creepy. Creepier. Creepiest!
Revisado: 10-12-24
C. C. Warrens is back with a series that starts out by going bump in the night! Firefly Diaries careens from one terrifying floor creaking, nail biting, heart pounding situation to another at speeds worthy of NASCAR. Noelle runs from her grief only to find herself the owner of a house haunted by greed, pain and a surly neighbor just outside what she'd hoped would be a picturesque village. If only that were all that haunts the grounds or the hearts of those she comes in contact with! Whether it's trauma, laughs, Bible truth or the unexpected: both the author and her characters bare it all to bring healing to the world. With a cast of characters that make you both fear and long for small town life, Firefly Diaries will keep you up at night long past the one one you spend reading it!

Fairytale wishes
Revisado: 10-04-24
Peasant girl Creel hits all our favorite heroine tropes with her quick witted responses to dragons and princesses alike, Daring, brave and talented, her tapestry work is as multifaceted as the dragonlore of the kingdom's past... and future. With a heartwarming cast of characters that made me download the whole series after just a few chapters, I highly recommend joining Creel as she sews a whole new world!

Perfect for your budding detective!
Revisado: 08-09-24
I cannot say enough about how this wonderful series doesn't talk down to its target audience or trivialize their troubles! The difference in quality, story pacing and high interest in Coble's YA mysteries and adult thrillers is minimal. As a 47 year old, I stayed engaged and was bamboozled to the end! Though I love her thrillers, these clean, wholesome mysteries bring all of Coble's usual small town charm wrapped in taut, edge of your seat circumstances with the bonus of not having content that may be too much detail for younger audiences! Love this series!
