Historia
Everyone has wanted their favorite book to be real, if only for a moment. Everyone has wished to meet their favorite characters, if only for a day. But be careful in that wish, for even a history laid in ink can be repaid in flesh and blood, and reality is far deadlier than fiction...especially on Addington Isle.

Great Story, Unusual Style
Revisado: 07-16-24
The story was amazing and I liked the bits of verse. I thought it was funny when the narrator had trouble breaking the rhythm from his tone when switching from the poems to the story. I will say the writing was a bit more flowery than I expected for a horror and sometimes the characters were just plain stupid. There was a scene where a character is running for his actual life but stops to admire a finely painted tea set. It was just weird for a horror and took away a bit of the tension for me. Still a great book!

Historia
In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young. There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no Internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents - unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers - that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world.

Amazing Voice Acting
Revisado: 07-16-24
I picked up this book because my husband read it as a teen and never got to finish the series. I decided to start it after finishing my last series. It's hard to believe with some of the horrifying things that happen that this is YA. The story is amazing and I'm excited for the next book. The narrator does such amazing voices for each character, though his non dialogue voice was a bit off putting at first. The man is seriously talented and this book came to life because of him.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

I can't wait to listen again!
Revisado: 02-07-23
I so enjoyed this book. I'm a huge Stephen King fan as it is and this was way different from what I'm used to from him but in the most delightful ways. I really can't wait for my husband and dad to read so we can discuss!

Historia
Stella Ainsley leaves poverty behind when she quits her engineering job aboard the Stalwart to become a governess on a private ship. On the Rochester, there’s no water ration, more books than one person could devour in a lifetime, and an AI who seems more friend than robot. But no one warned Stella that the ship seems to be haunted, nor that it may be involved in a conspiracy that could topple the entire interstellar fleet.

Exciting read with a The 100 vibe
Revisado: 04-15-21
The was a pretty awesome read. The story kept a nice pace and the premise of having to live in space reminded me of Kass Morgan's The 100, except the story was more about being in space than the ground.
I loved the characters, I was so rooting for John despite knowing that wouldn't work out. The complexity of the society was highly intriguing and it was refreshing to see some great character growth from some highly unlikable characters.
My only issue with the performance was that the narrative states quite plainly that Stella has a British accent due to the ship she was born on and the narrator didn't have that. Otherwise, she was absolutely brilliant. I was especially impressed by her male voices as sometimes I run across narrators who really only have one male inflection and it is a pet peeve of mine. She does really well making each voice unique so that even if the speaker isn't mentioned by name at first, you know who it is. She very much brought a lot of life to the author's story.

Best Sci-fi I've Read In Years!
Revisado: 01-18-21
I got this book for my husband because he loves Paolini and I decided to listen to it so that when he got to read it, he would have someone to discuss it with. This book is such a wonderful experience from the talented Ms. Hale to the artful and detailed look into this distant future. I loved Gregorivich so much and if future stories in this distant verse are told, I hope to see him again. From the technology to the amazing characters to the beautiful alien worlds and overall story, this is indeed a wonderful read for anyone.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 03-11-20
Here is a story that is not only gripping and well written, but they found the perfect narrator. She gets right into the meat of things as if it were a character she were intimately familiar with. Beautiful and terrifying, this was a great story.
