Historia
Mary Rose had been born and raised in Canada, but when love called her to her fiancé’s Far East, she packed up her bags, flew to Singapore three days early — and walked in on him with another woman. Unwilling to turn around and go back home, she stayed on and proved her value as a nurse at a big Singapore hospital, but after three months of being the target of well-meaning pity, she was ready to look for some other place in which to make her way in life. And to her surprise, she got one — when one of her patients, a handsome Kiwi war hero, who through an unfortunate series of ...

Virtual Voice Needs Improvement!
Revisado: 05-01-25
The story is great. A beautiful look into a different country and different era. Makes me want to visit New Zealand. The voice is mediocre with frequent annoyances that take you out of the story. One of the main characters name is Ninian. In conversations in the book his name is frequently shortened to Nin. Every time this happens the virtual voice says Nine Inch Nails. It really ruins the narration.

Historia
Running a small-town police force in the mountains of New Mexico should be a smooth, carefree kind of job. Sadly, full-time Sheriff - and even fuller-time coffee guzzler - Sunshine Vicram, didn't get that memo. All Sunshine really wants is one easygoing day. You know, the kind that starts with coffee and a donut (or three) and ends with takeout pizza and a glass of chardonnay (or seven). Turns out, that’s about as easy as switching to decaf. (What kind of people do that? And who hurt them?)

Doesn’t Deliver
Revisado: 11-17-21
I really liked the first book and was looking forward to the second. Unfortunately this book does not deliver on the first book’s promise. The story continues with a new story and some of the mysteries of the first book but the whole thing becomes overblown. The new storyline gets resolved but the book continues for several more chapters. It starts to feel like 2 separate books.
SPOILER ALERT: First of all, one of the best characters who played a huge part in book number one is almost never mentioned in book number two. What happened to the deputy sniper? Secondly what was with the explicit sex scene? While there was fun sexual tension throughout the both books, having a graphic sex scene at the end of the book 2 really came out of nowhere. I like hot romance but it needs to fit the style of the book. This did not fit book 1 or book 2. Third there were to many convenient endings to several storylines. Characters who are built up as villains in both books suddenly had hearts of gold and were working to the good of the community behind the scenes. It was all a misunderstanding? What?
Bottom line, the story just became too long with too many extraneous characters and too many plot lines. Usually I don’t want books to end but this book felt like it would never end. Very disappointing.
(I also agree with several of the reviews regarding the daughter.)

Historia
Anna-Marie Halsey loves her job as a regular on the soap opera Southern Heat almost as much as she loves living the LA lifestyle: clubbing and partying and casually dating gorgeous men - most recently powerhouse agent Josh Rios. When Anna-Marie starts feeling more-than-casual about Josh - her signature cue to break things off - she finds a much-needed excuse to get away: a family reunion in small-town Wyoming.

Just don’t!
Revisado: 01-12-21
While the story has a good message regarding how society judges women’s sexual behavior it uses a sledgehammer to make its point. It becomes so unbelievable that it turns into melodrama. It probably doesn’t help that the female narrator starts to sound screechy and whiny every time something happens. And a LOT happens. The narration becomes unbearable when the big drama happens. Also the drama is pretty over the top. *Spoiler Alert* At one point a fellow actor calls the female character derogatory names and divulges private sexual details. It’s pretty implausible any of his handlers would let him purposely commit libel. Fortunately the male character is happy to step in and save the day. Unfortunately this completely negates any positive message the book tried to impart.
I’m reading this book as the sequel to The Extra which was free with membership. It was a bit over the top but many sins can be forgiven if you don’t spend any extra money. I had to use a credit to get this book and it is not worth it. I’m not sure I would even choose it if it came with membership because of the plot and how hard it is to listen to the female narrator. She was fine in the beginning even though her male voices were bad. When the plot takes it’s big turn you’ll want to turn it off.
Lastly, it’s also pretty offensive that the majority of the Wyoming characters are backward small town stereotypes instead of realistic people. Either the author hasn’t spent much time in small towns or has a vendetta. The whole book could use better character development and a better plot.
