Historia
LETTERS FROM THE LOONEY BIN is a #1 Amazon Bestseller! In the late 1970s the Emerson Rose Asylum became completely abandoned - all the patients, doctors, staff, vanished and were never seen again. The events circling this mass exodus have been one of the most baffling disappearances in history. Until now. A stack of bundled letters was found inside a tattered asylum mattress during the Emerson demolition. These letters, all addressed to the pseudonym Dr. Quill, were written by the patients as they documented the demise of the Emerson Rose Asylum. The patients innocently convey their dire ...

Really good story. Highly recommend.
Revisado: 02-27-25
Overall, great. Shocking. Emotional. The virtual voice narrator is a bit jarring at times but it’s fine overall.

Story is alright.
Revisado: 02-13-25
All the characters are just stupid. The author did the unthinkable and frankly the impossible by reusing the same characters and location and plot over and over and over again while still keeping me kind of entertained. As a paranormal enthusiast, I found most of the paranormal investigation stuff in this rather cringy and stupid. Story was alright tho. Narration was good but the guys female voiceovers are terrible.

Complete rip off of better books.
Revisado: 02-04-25
The author admits to completely ripping off Tolkien for the start of the book. Then does not turn around to admit that he ripped off characters from other books like the Witcher. Too much time is spent describing the same damned things over and over again to the point where I just start tuning the book out. Rosamund pike is the worst choice for this audio book. Her narration is dry and boring. The book is 50 some chapters long. I made it to chapter 20 before tapping out.

Bilbo Baggins, a gentle hobbit who loves the comforts of home, reluctantly joins a company of dwarves on a journey to recover plundered gold from a fierce dragon. It's a tale of high adventure and astonishing courage, and a magical prelude to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

It’s pretty terrible.
Revisado: 01-13-25
I’m aware that this was probably recorded a long time ago by the bbc. But it could be remastered or redone. It’s 2025. The sound quality isn’t great but is to be expected. The acting is crass and stupid. The dwarves are cast as stupid, immature, incapable, fearful cowards and it paints bilbo as some magnanimous hero. The voice acting for the dragon is hard to understand. Gandalf sounds like he has lung cancer from smoking all the cigarettes in middle earth. The oboe and flute plays between scenes are heavy handed and get annoying pretty quick. I only went through the whole thing because I’m at work and I like to see how people interpret Tolkien in different ways. But this had so much dialogue that just wasn’t in the books, hell not even the time frame or fantasy genre. Dragons up in here talkin about toll booths. It skips a lot of the stuff in the book and changes how some events play out and that’s fine. But adding lines of nonsense where entire scenes had been cut out and filling it with dwarves that are either children or old women bickering… it’s bad.

The main character is dumb.
Revisado: 12-10-24
I like my nerdy stuff. Gods and monsters and fantasy. This fits. But the main character, without spoiling anything, is a total dipshit.

Historia
Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money - the carrot-and-stick approach. That's a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction - at work, at school, and at home - is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world.

A counter intuitive introduction to how to run a business
Revisado: 10-04-19
I don’t know where to begin. I don’t think the author has ever been in a management position. This book is awful on so many levels. Namely the fact that the author barely has a single original thought. The majority of the book is the author listing details about studies conducted on “monkeys” and college students somewhere between 30 and 70 years ago.
I was forced to read/listen to this book for my new job. Which goes against everything this book is about. And in my free time. Not getting paid for doing it, which is what this book is about. Stop paying your employees. Instead make them grind away doing things that are fun for free. Nevermind that they have kids to feed and bills to pay, which I must add is incredibly hard to pay with fun tasks. Try telling your landlord that you can’t pay the rent because your boss doesn’t pay in money, but instead let’s you have fun at work for free.
Maybe I didn’t pay close enough attention because the information being dispensed was just kind of garbage. I learned nothing and gained nothing more than a mild headache and a nap while driving. I wouldn’t recommend this book to my previous boss and I legitimately can’t stand the guy.
