Ugh. AI narration. I didn’t enjoy this because of the narration. Just no. The sad thing is that this was the 5th AI free audiobook available through Audible as part of the Platinum Plan program. I was excited to see these books available to listen to but this was the only one not completely painful to listen to. The other 4 were deleted after a few sentences in.
This one didn’t even have British accent when it takes place in England. The future of audiobooks still belongs to actual live narrators. If using AI is the author’s choice, don’t do it. It’s better just to not have it available on an audiobook unless you pay for proper narration.

I waited what always seems like forever to get my hands on another Her Royal Spyness mystery. It didn’t disappoint. I did guess the murderer but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. I did miss one character but most of them made an appearance with the addition of a surprise new character & a teaser that they might be in a future book. I absolutely can’t wait!

This series never get old. Jenn McKinlay continues to come up with a good mystery every time. These characters are feel like family this many books in. Susan Boyce as narrator has become the voice of the series for me. Well done

This second Oxford Tea Room mystery was great fun. I enjoyed it even better than the first (which was great) now that I've come to know and really like all the characters.
Gemma is a wonderfully sassy Brit and some of her expressions just really make this series.
Cassie had more of a role in this story with a new smarmy boyfriend. I really like the CID Detective, Devlin and am glad he and Gemma are getting closer. They make an adorable couple.
Gemma's mom has now taken over the baking for the tea room with the Old Biddies filling in to wait on customers when Cassie or Gemma need a hand. I like that addition as I'm sure it will lead to any number of interesting outcomes in the future. As usual the Old Biddies insert themselves into the investigation which always has a comical twist.
As a cat owner, I laughed out loud at some of Muesli's antics. Spot on for a cheeky cat.
I liked the storyline a lot and although I had suspected the actual killer in the beginning, the author then threw me off the scent. The mystery was satisfying I was pleased with the ending.
The narrator did another excellent job. I really like her expressiveness in reading the story and feel like it brings a lot of life and realism to the characters. I love how she reads Gemma & even Muesli.

Disclosure: A copy of this audio was sent to me for review by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Scone To Die For Oxford Tearoom Cozy Mysteries, Book 1 to be better than the print version?

I think both the print and audio version are very good. There's no reason not to enjoy both!I love to read print books but it's nice sometimes to listen to a good cozy when you're busy doing something else.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Scone To Die For Oxford Tearoom Cozy Mysteries, Book 1?

I thought the closet scene with the old buddies was quite funny. Of course at the beginning when Gemma was trying to catch Muesli in the tea room was hilarious. Anyone who is a cat owner will feel her pain.

What about Pearl Hewitt’s performance did you like?

She was excellent reading Gemma. I thought she captured her spirit and character very well which really brought the character to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely. I only turned it off the first day because I just had to. I stayed up late to finish it all the next day.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this audio. I can't wait to curl up with my own cup of tea & listen to Tea With Milk and Murder.

Where does Murder on the Mind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As this is the only suspense audio I've read so far, I can't accurately compare it to any I've listened to in another genre as far as a story goes. Comparing quality, I'd say it was very professional. A few I've listened to were not done as well; story or narration.

What about Steven Barnett’s performance did you like?

He did a very good job of distinguishing the different characters.

If you're looking for a serious or die hard mystery this may not be for you. However, if you want a fun, fast-paced & quick story to crack you up, then take a chance on Granny. That's not to say that there isn't a mystery going on. Granny works for the stores in town as undercover security. In this first book, we're introduced to the characters in town as Granny goes on her "rounds". Things come up missing from many stores & at one point Granny starts to doubt her sanity. I don't want to say more because it's too much fun to hear it yourself. She's just sassy, funny & sometimes just plain crazy but I want to be Granny when I grow up; umbrella and all.
