Adopt some items--leave others be
Revisado: 02-25-16
I do wish the book had a pdf for reference. Many items are great in this text--others not so good. However, that's with every book one reads on supplements. I purchased the book because Shane is a chemist and I wanted a chemist's point of view; plus, the author eats his own medicine. I was not disappointed.

Readily find your way to better health with this guide to nutritional supplements and holistic health. Health-conscious consumers read nutritional labels, but it's nearly impossible to get the nutrients we need with diet alone. To get the USDA-recommended daily quota of vitamin D, for example, you need to eat 15 eggs or 26 sardines; of iron, 414 almonds or 15 cups of broccoli.

The reader is a stylistic reader--pausing--stopping--after a while, tune it out.
The information in this book is well worth the listen. I love Dr. Low Dog's no nonsense approach to blending nutrition, nutraceuticals, and (if you take them) pharmaceuticals. I'm looking forward, after the first run through, to going through the pdf and book in more detail.

Historia
One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

Every schoolchild learns about the mutually beneficial dance of honeybees and flowers: The bee collects nectar and pollen to make honey and, in the process, spreads the flowers' genes far and wide. In The Botany of Desire, Michael Pollan ingeniously demonstrates how people and domesticated plants have formed a similarly reciprocal relationship.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

This is a must listen! I grew up reading this story, viewing Hollywood's interpretation, and now, taking a chance, purchased the audible copy. Wow! What an amazing production. Honestly, at 2:00 a.m., listening to the narrative, with all the lights out--I felt terror--the shear terror of this timeless story.

Do not expect it to be like the movie
Revisado: 02-26-12
If you could sum up The Woman in Black in three words, what would they be?
Chilling. British. Dark.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, in that I wanted to know just how far over the edge characters were willing to go before they realized they were playing with fire.
Any additional comments?
Don't expect this to be like the movie. However, listen to this BEFORE you see the movie, as nuances are missing in the current flick that you will gain in the audiobook.
