I love the Merry Gentry series. Laurell K Hamilton presents the various characters so clearly, and the plotlines are fascinating. Just as when I read this story in book form, I grieved with Merry when Frost became stag. I look forward to listening to tge rest of the seriez; this nartator is superb.

The virtual voice has a pleasant timbre, but its cadence, emphasis, and pronunciations are just wrong. The name Elodie, for example, is pronounced eh-LOH-dee, which should be EH-loh-dee. The 5-star French restaurant, La Mer Etoile, was pronounced La MARee Toll. Anyone working on a cruise ship would use the proper pronunciation. I've listened to several stories using virtual voice and all are equally similarly wrong.

Another breathstealing, edge-of-seat, snarky, and wonderfully weird addition to the Junkyard Cats series. Faith Hunter has continued to intrigue me with the intricacies of the characters in this series, especially the awareness and intelligence of the cats. The storylines are fascinating, and the pace is superb. The Junkyard Roadhouse rules are both hilarious and superb. As always, Khristine Hvam's narrative representation of the characters is superb. I look forward to the next book in the series and to more about life in the Roadhouse. WooHOOOOO.

Due to scheduling complications, the Audible version of Rift in the Soul was delayed several months after the written edition of the book. Too impatient to wait, I read and reviewed the book immediately after it's release. it's a powerful and perfect conclusion to the series, and as always, Khristine Hvam's narration is perfect - her renditions of each character have been consistent throughout. Faith Hunter is a most talented author, and the Soulwood series is superb from beginning to end. The only negative is that this is the final book in the series. I recommend reading all of it. My favorite scene might be the very last.

I completely disagree with those who feel Delanna Studi's narration is poor. Perhaps they are unused to the subtlety of Native American expression when speaking and did not recognize the nuances of Ms Studi's storytelling. I've listened to elders' stories for many years, and find Ms. Studi's relating the different characters' personalities excellent. Her pronunciation of the Dine' words is accurate to my ears and not over-emphasized. It's a difficult language to speak if one is not Dine'; Ms. Studi is Cherokee, and I consider Cherokee another challemging language to speak.

Ms. Hillerman has written a very intriguing powerful mystery for Bernadette Manuelito and Jim Chee to solve, entwining it with their lives as wife and husband, as well as law enforcement officers and family members. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and had solved part of the mystery just as the storyline revealed the murderers and the person who was central control. It's also enlightening to learn of face blindness, never having heard of it after more than 35 years' involvement with medical conditions.

Congratulations on another success, Ms. Hillerman. I look forward to the next Manuelito/Chee adventure.

I've very much enjoyed relistening to Donna Leon's Commissary Brunetti mysteries. "Beastly Things" may be my favorite. Her characters and their interactions are so real, and the settings in Venice delight me. David Colacci is one of my favorite narrators, and his consistency is remarkable and greatly appreciated. The final scene, the veterinarian's funeral is perfect.

I enjoyed meeting the characters and getting to know the environment of the Red Cove B&B. I liked the pace of the book, as well as the conclusions of the various plotlines. I would suggest that, if mentioning a Native American tribe, though, better knowledge is discovered. Daniel claimed to be Lakota, a small tribe of only 200 or so, which is incorrect. Also, especially in California in this day and age, as well as if he follows cultural beliefs, it was unnecessary for him to cut his hair for a job application, even for a management position. Otherwise, I'm delighted with the story and look forward to the next one.

While I enjoyed the mysteries and the characters, after 3 books, each ended with only the discovery of the murderer. I would have preferred more detail around Charlotte & Thomas' wedding; the birth of Jemima; the reaction Pitt and Emily and the rest of Paragon Walk had to this third murderer's discovery. The end of each book left me feeling its abruptness, and the beginning of the next did not answer questions I had from the previous books. Ms. Porter is a superb voice actress.

From beginning to end, this book sucked me into Shining Smith's wild and weird world, again. The manipulation, the battles, the characters, and the CATS are all superbly written. Some definite surprises and some delightful comedy combined with the terror of battle and the ranks of huge, lock-stepping rats had me gasping and holding my breath. I do hope there's another book coming in this series to answer some of the hints made at the end of this one, but the resolutions of the plotlines are very satisfying. As always, Khristine Hvam has brought to real life the many characters' voices, and I love her cat voices. Congratulations and kudos to Faith Hunter for another riveting success.

Other than an interesting series of events in the life of the main character, I wasn't drawn into the story as much as I prefer, and I'm uncertain about the main focus of the story. The characters are well imagined and described, and the related storylines flowed well and harmoniously at a good pace, yet I remained an outside listener rather than a subtle participant. The narrator smoothly managed the numerous characters; however, her voice for the main character was choppy and sharp, as if the character were always almost out of breath, although the tone and timbre of her voice were pleasant to my ear. At the completion of the book, the storylines were resolved, but my final thought was, "so what was it really." I'm certain many readers will thoroughly enjoy this tale.
