Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Best book ever!
Revisado: 09-10-24
This is a book that you just can't put down. There were so many twists and turns that keep you guessing right to the end. I never saw the biggest twist toward the end coming.
The narration was one of the best I've heard. She adds all the little nuances like sighs, crying, sniffling and the distortef sound of a phone call.

Wrist narration ever!
Revisado: 08-09-24
I will never listen to an AI generated voice again. Absolutely horrible. No inflection in the voice. One monotone voice for every character so that's it was read verbatim with all of the he said, she said, I said parts. The story wasn't even believable. Terrible.

Awesome Experience
Revisado: 06-27-24
The description of heaven alone is amazing. And even as a pastor who would comfort and counsel a parishioner in the same predicament, we find that he is only human after all and goes through the ordeal like anyone else. He was in so much pain that he couldn't see that others were doing for him as he would have done for them. To finally realize God's purpose for his life is wonderful in every way.

This is one of the best books I have listened to. The story is gripping, the kind that you just can't put down. And the narrator is excellent!

Historia
Los Angeles is a city of sunlight, celebrity, and possibility. The L.A. often experienced by Homicide Lt. Detective Milo Sturgis and psychologist Alex Delaware, is a city of the dead. Early one morning, the two of them find themselves in a neighborhood of pretty houses, pretty cars, and pretty people. The scene they encounter is anything but. A naked young man lies dead in the street, the apparent victim of a collision with a moving van hurtling through suburbia in the darkness. But any thoughts of accidental death vanish when a blood trail leads to a nearby home.

Worst book I ever read/listened to
Revisado: 09-12-23
I really struggled with this book. Granted I just discovered that there are previous books using these characters but one should still be able to get into the story. However, there were so many characters going in so many directions that I couldn't follow it. It was fairly boring, not living up to the title. The narrator was the worst! His reading was stilted at times and he isn't very good at character voices. Awful!

Good ghost story
Revisado: 08-28-23
I loved this book. If you like ghost stories, this is for you. My only complaint is with narrator Kirsten Potter. Her voice was too old and clipped for Viv, a 20 year old girl. She was fairly good with other voices though. I didn't care for the clipped cadence of her voice. Contrary to other reviews, I did like the other narrator. I thought she portrayed Heather perfectly. The story has a good twisty plot too.

Gripping
Revisado: 10-28-21
This is the first Andrew Pyper book that I have read/listened to. The story line was great and the narration is outstanding!
What made this come to life for me is that the setting is near where I live and an area that I often go to. I did not know this when I downloaded the book. The author has such an intimate knowledge of the area; streets, landmarks, buildings, history, that I was amazed every time I heard something familiar. I read the author's biography and it doesn't indicate that he ever lived in this area so I assume he travels to different places, learns their history and creates a novel from those facts. It makes for a very realistic story. If he does this with all of his novels, I'll be sure to read them all.

Historia
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Well written, keeps you guessing. Although the reader isn't quite sure at times, you sort of know the lead characters will survive.
