Historia
I love him. And I’m pretty sure he loves me back...even though he’s straight. When I first met Carter King, I knew he was something special. I imagined us being together, and we are, but only as friends. Best friends! I’m trying to be cool with that, even though I know he has secrets, and there have definitely been mixed signals. I don’t want a crush to ruin what we already have. Then again, if there’s any chance that we can be together, it’s worth the risk, because Carter could be the love of my life. Or he might be the boy who breaks my heart.

Very unpredictable. Genuine. Sweet. Nuanced. Poignant. And honest. It wasn’t what I expected it to be, but it was great!

Beautifully written (and performed), this incredible and fascinating memoir will break your heart almost as much as it will fill you with optimism and hope. It might just be the best book I’ve read this year.

Historia
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

Beyond excellent. Important.
Revisado: 05-14-22
Probably Murray’s best work yet, “The War on the West” should be required reading in every school and university across the West. Impeccably researches, it provides much needed perspective, tying together the seemingly disparate strands of what we all see taking place in our societies. Often the first step in dealing with a threat is identifying it and naming it. Here, Murray does exactly that.

But those who'd been following Ngo's reporting in outlets like the New York Post and Quillette knew that the attack was only the latest in a long line of crimes perpetrated by antifa.

Historia
Something is wrong. We all know it. American life expectancy is declining for a third straight year. Birth rates are dropping. Nearly half of us think the other political party isn’t just wrong; they’re evil. We’re the richest country in history, but we’ve never been more pessimistic. What’s causing the despair? In Them, bestselling author and U.S. senator Ben Sasse argues that, contrary to conventional wisdom, our crisis isn’t really about politics. It’s that we’re so lonely we can’t see straight—and it bubbles out as anger. Local communities are collapsing.

Historia
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

This work by Douglas Murray isn’t merely excellent, it’s important. Especially given the current moment in which we all find ourselves. It is without a doubt a must-read for those who care about the pressing social issues of the day, but who share a desire for genuine progress and an expansion of human flourishing. Murray asks the tough questions that need to be asked.

What is "the big lie" of the Democratic Party? That conservatives - and President Donald Trump in particular - are fascists. Nazis, even. In a typical comment, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow says the Trump era is reminiscent of "what it was like when Hitler first became chancellor." But in fact, this audacious lie is a complete inversion of the truth. Yes, there is a fascist threat in America - but that threat is from the Left and the Democratic Party.

Revisado: 05-31-17
This was one of the best books I've read this year! Sasse clearly and eloquently articulates the form is citizenship historically crucial to the flourishing of the republic and he takes great steps forward in working to diagnose the challenges the currently face American society. As well, this book is a substantive contribution to the tradition of conservative political thought, and very enjoyable to read. Certainly a must-read for every American parent but still extremely valuable for any American more generally. I cannot speak too highly of this book! #Sasse2024?
