Historia
Think history is boring? Then you’ve never met King Ludwig II, who inspired Walt Disney with his magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle in the clouds. He ruled Bavaria for twenty-two years, inspiring its people by his support for the arts. Yet he was known by many as Mad King Ludwig. He rarely appeared in the capital or attended any government functions. He slept most of the day and stayed awake all night. He dined with his horse and waved pistols at servants. He created a fantasy world inside his castles, complete with caves and trap-door tables. To this day, no one is sure exactly what ...

Horrid Virtual Voice
- De Michael A. Schmid en 03-06-25
“Virtual Voice” had too many errors
Revisado: 02-24-25
Every time “I” was used, the virtual voice said “the first” which was crazy annoying. It also referred to anyone as a “Dr.” by saying “Drive.” Otherwise the writing felt like a book report and also made fun of opera, which is the entire reason I am interested in this story. Know your audience lol.

Life Changing

I've never written a review here before, it's that good. Almost couldn't stop listening to it — fascinating history, stories, and I never knew a thing about opera before I started.

Historia
You probably don't realize that your supermarket is filled with foods that have a military origin: canned goods, packaged deli meats, TV dinners, cling wrap, energy bars…the list is almost endless. In fact, there's a watered-down combat ration lurking in practically every bag, box, can, bottle, jar, and carton Americans buy. Anastacia Marx de Salcedo shows how the Department of Defense Combat Feeding Directorate plans, funds, and spreads the food science that enables it to produce cheap, imperishable rations.

Interesting subject, not-so-great writer
Revisado: 08-10-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like long lists of names, you'll love this book.
Has Combat-Ready Kitchen turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I am super duper interested in military technology.
What three words best describe C.S.E Cooney’s voice?
Clear, nice, loud-enough.
What character would you cut from Combat-Ready Kitchen?
The author.
Any additional comments?
The author is bogged down in reciting which school everyone went to before they made a discovery. It would be clearer with edits, less confusing technical metaphors, and a sharper focus. I love the subject matter but did not love her framing the story with how romantic it was when she used to make sandwiches for her husband.
