Historia
Cotton Malone is on the hunt for a forgotten 16th century Pledge of Christ—a sworn promise made by Pope Julius II that evidences a monetary debt owed by the Vatican, still valid after five centuries—now worth in the trillions of dollars. But collecting that debt centers around what happened to the famed Medici of Florence—a family that history says died out, without heirs, centuries ago. Who will become the next prime minister of Italy, and who will be the next pope? Finding answers proves difficult until Cotton realizes that everything hinges on when, and if, the Medici return.

Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Missing the interaction of the Three Pines Characters
Revisado: 11-07-24
I am myself a speaker of 4 languages including French - the pauses and lilt of new narrator Jean Brassard will feel and land very differently - and if you are off-put, JUST SPEED UP the reading - most of the awkward differences will disappear. I promise. As for the story - I am more accustomed to the deeper character development that leads to the final outcome; instead, this is more of a race in a whodunit: keeps you riveted but not quite as satisfied as with earlier mysteries. I hope for more from the interesting clan living in Three Pines in future.

Contextually vivid and interesting for those who wish to understand the British experience of COVID-19. I have a friend who was a nurse at the time in England and the descriptions she made match those of the author.

Historia
Natalka and Edwin are perfect if improbable partners in a detective agency. At eighty-four, Edwin regularly claims that he’s the oldest detective in England. He is a master at surveillance, deploying his age as a cloak of invisibility. Natalka, Ukrainian-born and more than fifty years his junior, is a math whizz, who takes any cases concerning fraud or deception. Despite a steady stream of minor cases, Natalka is frustrated. She loves a murder, as she’s fond of saying, and none have come the agency’s way. That is until local writer Melody Chambers dies.

Repetitive and more distracting than enjoyable

Various factors in this book keep repeating different aspects to a point of destroying any interest in trying to track what’s going on. Perhaps I was the one distracted but I doubt it.

Historia
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

Engaging, engrossing and a series of Truths for our times from a man of integrity and excellence
Revisado: 07-13-24
The span of this book across over 50 years of service weather for HIV, Covid, post 911 biohazard protection, and sheer breath of experience across family, economics, and presidential reigns – this is a book not to be missed to understand the condition of not only our country‘s health, but of our world’s way of thinking. This should be a college textbook 101 for developing future leaders, and caregivers of deep and trustworthy character. A great educational moment.

Historia
In 2017, Leonardo da Vinci’s small oil painting the Salvator Mundi was sold at auction. In the words of its discoverer, the image of Christ as savior of the world is “the rarest thing on the planet.” Its $450 million sale price also makes it the world’s most expensive painting. For two centuries, art dealers had searched in vain for the Holy Grail of art history: a portrait of Christ as the Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci. Many similar paintings of greatly varying quality had been executed by Leonardo’s assistants in the early 16th century.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.
