The righteousness of the Author
Revisado: 06-12-24
Good story until the Author became preachy. Taking the foibles of that era and turning the story into a parable was commendable but at the end, the story became tiresome.

Short, sweet and to the point.
Revisado: 03-03-24
I speeded up the narrative a little and it flowed better. The story caught my interest from the first and kept it to the very end.
The Author kept the pace of the story complete and concise. (Spoiler alert) I cried when the hero died but the story concluded satisfactorily. I am going to recommend this story to my space fantasy friends to read. A definite keeper.

Ava is committed to vengeance against the man responsible for the death of her parents. The same man, the queen's herald, kept her prisoner for two years, until she escaped with Luc, a warlord bent on vengeance just as fierce as her own. He's forged a powerful army of people from all through the region, called the Rising Wave, to march on the Kassian royal family and smash its corrupt power under the weight of their anger. But for Luc, just as for Ava, his true motive is a lot more personal.

Interesting use of Magic
Revisado: 06-30-23
I didn’t like the female narrator, Stephanie Wiles, her voice sounded too stiff to me. I thought Tim Page did an excellent job of the male protagonist. I did speed up a little bit to compensate for Ms. Wiles, speech patterns, and then the book was fine.
I have been a fan of Miss Diener since I read all her space sagas.

I found I was mesmerized by this storyline. The action was nonstop. The story pace was terrific. I did have to get used to the voice of the narrator, and I speed it up a little bit, and it was perfect. The story had many twists and turns and a surprise ending. I will listen to this author again.

All the feelings are in this story
Revisado: 03-20-23
I read a review someone wrote that they turned the speed down. I turned it up a couple of notches and it was perfect. The narrator’s voice was great just seemed slow.
The story line moved along very well.
I felt the poetry at the beginning of each chapter got longer and longer and that I could do without.
The author included some angst toward the end but explained rather well and finished the story without a cliffhanger.

Historia
Evan Eldridge never meant to be a war hero - he just wanted to fight Napoleon for the future of his country. And he certainly didn't think that saving the life of a peer would mean being made the Earl of Whitelock. But when the life you save is dear to the Prince Regent, things can change in a hurry. Now Evan has a new title, a manor house in shambles, and a stranger for a bride, all thrust upon him by a grateful ruler. What he doesn't have are all his memories. Traumatized as a result of his wounds and bravery on the battlefield, Evan knows there's something he can't quite remember.

All I had to do to improve the performance was to speed it up and it was fine. I liked the story as it told, from a fresh perspective, about Victorian Aristocracy. This is one I would listen to again.

Unique, entertaining

I became fully engaged with the imagination of this author. The story of a female joining the Navy in the 1700’s was intriguing. The addition of special talents added to the fun of reading this romance. The romantic portion only appeared in the last chapter, and it was in accordance with the morals of the times.

I started this on a whim. Then I became involved. I wanted to see what would come next. The training segment seemed long but it turned out to be worth the time to slog through it as it kept the story moving. Now I want to listen to the rest of the series.

I hope it continues
Revisado: 09-02-22
I have read and reread the entire series. I read other reviews that were low because they seemed a copycat of the first one. I found that similarity to be a premise of the story. I recommend reading them in order as the storylines build upon each other. The last third of this book was the best part and tied the plot nicely with the first four.
What I am hoping for is a continuation of the “female” controlled ship. Hint hint.

Book Six- so far the saddest of the series but also a good addition to the story
Revisado: 01-03-22
I have not been so engaged in a story line since the Anne McCaffrey books. I have very eclectic tastes in my literature and I know I will reread this series again and again. The story is fully fleshed out and the lead character, Ishmael, is very likable. It is his life we are sharing as readers. So this book gave me pause when I realized that there was going to be tragedy in this episode. Now that Ishmael is going onto another phase of his literary life, I can’t wait to see what the next chapter will bring. Being a romantic, I am hoping for not only new but happier times. Yes, I cried. Now you, too, know what a sap I am. Most often when reading previous books of this series, I found laughter and thought provoking sentiments were my main emotions.
I hope you enjoy this series as much as I.
