I liked that the book detailed the origin and evolution of modern cybercrime, and made me keenly aware of how easily I could be a victim.

Mindless characters implementing mindless solutions to mindless problems in mindless scenarios with a mind-numbing dose of mindless contradictions. If it weren't for the sex scenes, it might be appropriate for a 13 year old audience, but as is, it is only good for the mindless adult.

Another sloppy cliche-fest full of contraditions.

Another Patterson cliche-filled crapper where the hero is fearless, all-knowing, and who takes care of things that come his way, HIS WAY. Of COURSE every single little thing that could go wrong, does go wrong, just so that the "hero" can inexplicably overcome adversity time and time again just so that you KNOW he is a hero to be admired. I just couldn't finish it. The absolute lack of any hint of logic made this feel less like a story and more like a fairy tale, and an overabundance of contradictions was needed to plug all the plot holes created by said lack of logic. Don't waste your time - I'm sure Hollywood will turn this into another Summer box-office bomb that you can catch on streaming for free.

Sad, tired series mechanic & juvenile story...

Halfway through Chapter 2, I realized that this was a book that had been turned into a series through excruciatingly mind-numbingly detailed descriptions of every single simple thought and action of every single character and every object that they interact with. We all know simple things like entering a room and turning on the light on the way in - we don't need it detailed step-by-step. It isn't interesting, and it certainly doesn't add "authenticity" to a story - it puts us to sleep. Combine that with the unabashedly juvenile prose and it makes for a tired stereotrope of run-of-the-mill Young Adult Fiction book series. Of COURSE the hero has to be an orphaned teenage prodigy (Rolls eyes) upon whom the fate of the entire human race depends... yaaaaawn. If you're over 18 and/or have an IQ over 90, skip this snooze fest and try the Eden Chronicles series.

Too Woke to Make It Past the Forward

I really wanted to hear this story, but the Forward was so biased and full of intellectual dishonesty that the author's credibility was destroyed. WAAAAY too much Wokeism to then ask readers to trust that the story was unbiased and honest. It wasn't enough for her to put the brutality of slavery front and center for the education of those who might be unfamiliar with it - she had to attach so many modern issues to it that the plausibility just broke down. Too bad. Maybe someday another author can present this piece of history with more intellect and less propaganda.

Most Americans, like myself, are woefully ignorant of the history that the modern African American culture has arisen from. Listen to this, and understand the bitterness that we as Americans need to acknowledge and heal.

What executive listened to this reading and thought, "Yeah, that's what I want representing my company." Stilted, New York accented. Aaaaand lots of drawn out "and"'s. As if the reader simply couldn't hold enough breath to speak more than a few words without having to pause and take another breath. It really, REALLY disrupts what the author tries to convey. Hint to Gary Galone: If the author wanted the prose to stop there and start up again, he would have put a period there and capitalized the next word. Please don't let him have read the next book in the series or I'm just going to quit here.

I almost missed experiencing this book based on what appears to be a corny premise. PLEASE don't do that! This book quickly addresses that issue and then blossoms into such an amazing story of such unique vision, I can't really explain it to you - you just have to experience it yourself. I am an EXTREMELY harsh critic, so if I am gushing this much about a book, you can be sure that it is great. Do yourself a favor, get this book. You can thank me later.

I was so beat up by moronic cliches in the first chapter that I couldn't make it any further. Honestly, the story in the first chapter was so far gone from the summary that induced me to buy the book that I am concerned I was listening to the wrong book. Here is some advice to this (and EVERY OTHER AUTHOR), don't make your main character look like a moron in the first chapter if you want listeners to continue to the second chapter.

This book is presented as hard sci-fi, but had so much romance and drama in the first few chapters, I began to doubt that categorization. The straw that broke my camel's back was the cliche about the wife feeling neglected. Yaaaaaawn... Too bad. It promised some really thought-provoking scenarios about AI and what does and does not constitute life. Unfortunately, the author made the manufactured drama of the main character's life so distracting that I couldn't slog through it long enough to find out. Maybe you'll do better than me.
