too long to get to the point
Revisado: 03-06-25
this book was ok...the last several chapters tied it all together. I was disappointed that it took too long for the somewhat disjointed set-up. I usually really like this author, but I kept checking to see which chapter I was on and how many were left until Part 5

Awful monotone non-inflective narration
Revisado: 02-27-25
the monotone narration...I had to double-check to see that it was not AI (which I will never listen to again). It made it so that I had to painfully replay some sections because it was so hard to listen to. A shame, really, because the storyline was good even though it did jump around a bit.
I would like a chance to listen with one of my favorite narrators!

at times, there was just too much description that did not add to the story-line, and, in fact, almost made me stop listening. I am glad u finished, in spite of that, because the twisty ending was enjoyable!

Historia
It’s been fifteen years since Vivian Delacroix unleashed her followers on the town of Cardinal Falls. The cult members killed anyone Vivian told them was a threat to their beliefs. Now, another killer takes young girls of nine or ten, all related to Vivian’s original victims. He drugs them, suffocates them, and painstakingly arranges them in ritualistic poses. The bodies give up no evidence to the killer’s identity.

Great twisty story
Revisado: 05-13-24
the plot was good, main characters nicely developed. some of the non-main characters seemed to be just thrown in at random and the tie-in not as smooth. I will listen to the next book when it is available, but not in a rush to do so.

Historia
Detective Reed Mattox, just three months removed from the death of his partner, has turned invisibility into an art form. Switching to the K-9, taking over the graveyard shift, moving to a farmhouse miles outside of Columbus - his every move has become predicated on putting as much distance between himself and the outside world as possible. That distance is shattered, though, when bodies begin turning up in The Bottoms, the poverty-stricken section of town he is assigned to patrol.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.
