This story is interesting enough but far from a complete. It was just getting interesting when the final credits played. WTF?

Excellent fiction, excellent narration
Revisado: 08-23-21
I really loved this book, it was a vast and intricate escape from the hum drum of reality. The narrator was fabulous, and truly performed the work, instead of just reading it.

Imagine two worlds at war. In one, citizens with jetpacks and ray guns have colonized Venus. In the other, magic reigns supreme, and history turns on swords and spells. Now imagine they have just discovered a third world. Our world. Our timeline of rideshare apps and strip malls is about to become the newest battlefield in the long war between science fiction and fantasy.

Well produced and acted, but the story was just so silly and badly written, I had to quit halfway through.

Might have been better as a short story
Revisado: 08-09-19
This book had an interesting premise but seemed plod along at a glacial pace, it read like a short story that had been padded out with filler chapters.

Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Not bad, but very slow pace
Revisado: 03-23-19
At this rate, it may take 10 novels to tell the story, I would have preferred a faster pace of storytelling.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Historia
Seventeen-year-old Matthew Munson is ranked 13th in the state in Bash Bash Revolution, an outdated video game from 2002 that, in 2017, is still getting tournament play. He’s a high school dropout who still lives at home with his mom, doing little but gaming and moping. That is, until Matthew’s dad turns up again. Jeffrey Munson is a computer geek who’d left home eight years earlier to work on a top-secret military project. Jeff has been a sporadic presence in Matthew’s life, and much to his son’s displeasure insists on bonding over video games.

Part of the problem may have been that portions of this book don’t really work well as an audio book. Other parts of the book are excellent, so on average it’s worth struggling through the difficult parts.

Love the series, but this book is weak
Revisado: 10-05-17
This is a great series, but this book was not as good as the previous books. Also it felt like the story stretched out Longer than need be... and the cliff hanger ending was just a cheap trick.
Not a bad book, just not up to the same level of the previous books.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Historia
The Galactics arrived with their Battle Fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Today, Battle Fleet 921 is returning to Earth. It hasn't been seen by human eyes since our blissful day of Annexation. But what should be a joyful occasion, a chance to grovel at the feet of superior lifeforms, is rapidly becoming a nightmare.
