Historia
In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America's cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

There were a lot of claims with no facts in the beginning of the book. The middle of the book was excellent. The conclusion drawn from the book were heavily biased.

The first half a chapter one was a dud. I was close to returning the book. The book turned around considerably after the 1st chapter. For anyone new to a court room outside of kangaroo courts, this is a must read.

Toxic Workplace! is the first book to tackle the underlying systems issues that enable a toxic person to create a path of destruction in an organization, pervading others' thoughts and energies, even undermining their very sense of well-being. Based on all-new research with over 400 leaders, many from the Fortune 500 list, this book illustrates how to manage existing toxic behaviors, create norms that prevent the growth or regrowth of toxic environments, and ultimately design organizational communities of respectful engagement.

Archaic Views
Revisado: 11-22-23
Do you live in an urban community and wonder why law enforcement doesn’t understand crime? Read this book and you’ll find out. The chapters on terrorism are informative. Given the information about terrorism, it seems reasonable to expect they could come to the same conclusions about urban violence. People are “radicalized” by violence. Violence that is normalized and socially reinforced by community members, often times those in authority. The authors conclusions on sexual violence are wrong. The authors view is from an experience never having lived behind the communities where these things are prevalent, normalized, and monetized by millionaires and billionaires.

A lot of preconceived bias made the author while attempting to explain preconceived bias. A good review. My thinking was elevated and more organization. Definitely a book to purchase and reread every now and then.

I only agree with 80% of the book. I shop to enhance my life. I’m looking for a certain point at which life enhancement through shopping (solution oriented consumerism) is optimal. I measure that optimal efficiency by how much free time I have, the comfort I have in my daily life, the ability to remain adaptable/and be prepared as a result of what I own(instead of in spite of), health, and that extension towards others. I also don’t keep things I don’t retain value in(or in some cases serve as a reminder for something). I recently purchased a body pillow, nice sheets, and a fluffy blanket. All of which has enhance my ability to sleep and feel rested upon waking. When I’m suggested to purchase a new toy for say….meditation…I’m less inclined. I feel I have focused the areas of my purchases on sleep, giving me greater concentration. I can choose a chair, yoga mat, or my nice bed for my meditation and receive the same neuro feedback as I would a $100 mediation chair.

Elitist mentality is rooted in the choice of optimism and happiness in the face of adversity. This is really sugar coating denial for the sake of appearance so one can keep their social status. The authors child felt that and the root of his resistance to her stemmed from feeling her inauthenticity in an area where he felt like a failure. Regardless of that, this book was great. Thank you for bringing attention to the topic.
