Best deep-thinking, analytical UFO podcast so far
Revisado: 08-26-23
I listen to 15+ UAP / UFO centric shows and this one stands apart. The thought providing nature and well thought out delivery is superb! This person really does the research and doesn't rely heavily on interviews or tout myth as fact like many others do. Very well done! I binged all of the content in 1 week, averaging about 6 hours a day.

Excellent FULL CAST performance & story!
Revisado: 12-16-16
True performance narration! It's the story of a great chase with very steamy scenes and a full cast (likely using Autotune for voice modulation). I only wish that the book was 30 hours long. It's very hard to believe that this didn't include a full cast, however I know first hand that programs like Autotune can work miracles. It will revolutionize audiobook performance as much as it has influenced almost all music created this decade. Give this title a shot, you won't return it! All of the charactors have their own voices & accents.

But his investigation is ended by the fatal blast from a shotgun. Delano's second chief-of-police is no hero, yet he is also disturbed by what he sees in the missing-persons bulletins. In 1969, when Delano's third chief takes over, the unsolved disappearances still haunt the police files.

Great Listen! Beware of pre-1950s racist climate
Revisado: 12-06-16
Great book but beware that the plot and setting involves frequent racism, though in historically accurate proportions for the decades. This was a very good read centered around 1920's and later 1950's sheriff's within the same small County. Great story just as advertised!

Revisado: 07-16-16
Best narrator, amazing story, touching and adventurous! This is truly Post-apocalyptica on a whole other level! I've listened to over 100 apocalyptic works and this is required reading. So much so that it's the first review I've ever taken the time to write. Welcome to 20+ hours of rapture!

Historia
Carved into a moving island of ice twice the size of the United States, Ice Station Grendel has been abandoned for more than 70 years. The twisted brainchild of the finest minds of the former Soviet Union, it was designed to be inaccessible and virtually invisible. But an American undersea research vessel has inadvertently pulled too close - and something has been sighted moving inside the allegedly deserted facility, something whose survival defies every natural law.

Mainstream book-mill quality, Narration substandard
Revisado: 12-16-15
Would you try another book from James Rollins and/or John Meagher?
No, I am a fan of authors that take time writing books rather than just cranking them out in a week as a business. This novel was as substantive as a typical main stream television show. I don't even think it could even make it as a B-movie
What do you think your next listen will be?
Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, or the next Stephen King novel. Something that was written for at least the writer's pleasure if not the reader.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
His enthusiasm seemed to hype up the most cliche of lines. Also his voice is a little piercing, due to the fact that the recording needed to have a high-cut audio filter utilized.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ice Hunt?
First, I would have made a scary, believable monster. Second, I would have hyped the mystery of the setting.
Third, I wouldn't have overused so many cheesy words such as "the beast" and "ice station grendel" etc.
Any additional comments?
This author comitted a cardinal sin in my opinion - he wrote a book riddled with misinformation. We are in an era of misinformation in the media. There is no room for blatantly wrong information, such as "Bear Spray is 10x the potency of police pepper spray and causes permanent blindness at minimum". FYI -Bear Spray is a HUMANE alternative to regular pepper. It is 1/2 the potency of police pepper due to its intended use as a last ditch detterant to innocent animals. The author should be ashamed of his manufacturing of a rumor among unsuspecting readers! Tisk tisk.

Wow! This is a serious book! Believable & Amazing
Revisado: 12-16-15
Would you listen to Seveneves again? Why?
If it wasn't 40 hours long then yes, but I wish I could listen to it again for the first time!
What other book might you compare Seveneves to and why?
Pillar To The Sky - because it is very in depth, technical Sci-Fi.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It shortened my cross country drive substantially. It's as hard to put down as Ready Player One.
Any additional comments?
If you liked Star Trek (decades ago) then you will love this book. It requires imagination, but it will take you into orbit with the characters!

Revisado: 12-16-15
What did you love best about The Andromeda Strain?
The amount of effort that was put into research and proofreading of this sci-fi thriller! What a great book! If you have a passing interest in biology or are in the biz then you won't have any complaints about this book. Real Sci-fi!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Andromeda Strain?
The realization that I have stumbled across a well educated author who is intelligent enough to write a plausible book plot in the field of microbiology.
Any additional comments?
You won't regret this book if you are a tech savvy person. Also consider Jurassic Park... It's not the Spielberg version with the raptors that are triple their real size. Hollywood should be ashamed at their misinformation.

Great book in the style of 11-22-63!
Revisado: 12-16-15
Would you listen to Duma Key again? Why?
Sure! The heartache and rebirth are a recipe for a great novel, invoking nostalgia and a few tears, similar to the ride in Mr King's JFK novel. If you like King's modern storytelling then this book is for you. The nostalgia this time is life at the beach, rather than life in the 50's.
If you could rename Duma Key, what would you call it?
New Outlooks On Old Spirits - Something seems weird about this paradise.
Any additional comments?
If you liked 11-22-63 then you'll probably like this novel, set on a remote beach with a strange reclusive neighbor and a guarded history.

Revisado: 12-16-15
What made the experience of listening to The Borrowed World the most enjoyable?
The fact that it is a Prepper novel that isn't written by a Christian radicalist.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I swallow all of my audio books without chewing. It is a short read but it will pass the time.
Any additional comments?
The narrator is one of my favorites for post apocalyptic fiction. He has a somber tone that helps convey the heartache in the story. This book is by no means ny favorite Prepper novel, but it doesn't contain any radicalism or dangerous anti government agenda. For that I am grateful. It's worth listening to if your having
