Beating a Dead Horse...
Revisado: 03-20-25
A horse was beaten to death in this one...with a WHISKEY bottle!
The audiobook kept me engaged, but throughout my "engagement," I was also annoyed. The intro to each chapter tells you the ending of that particular chapter. For example, “I was excited to see him, but that wouldn't happen…He would never come.”
The "intros" were spoilers. Also, the narrators voice was too soft/light.
The author made the charater B (a biracial young woman) to have a moral compass that is completely off when it comes to fidelity. She's also a glamorized alcoholic (who beat the "whiskey" analogy to death); B is also obsessed with European beauty. The author also made B's figure to be less feminine/desirable.
Overall, the book (and the infidelity) was just exhausting.

Funny and Steamy
Revisado: 02-15-25
This audiobook started out very funny–unexpectedly! I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. However, I took away one star one star because of the ridiculous, "I wish he were a plumber...I hate that he's rich..." rhetoric. It felt unbelievable! Also, the "big reveal" at the end was predictable early on. There were a few things that didn't quite add up, but it seemed as if the author had to force a "twist." At times, the book felt too long, too. Still, for the first few chapters, I would give the book four stars–I loved it that much!

I'm not supposed to leave the house. But what my husband doesn't know won't kill him. I break his rules every morning on my runs. It's always been best when I have a routine. So every day I wake up, run, clean the house, wish for a better life, repeat. Every day is exactly the same. Except Thursdays. I live and breathe for Thursdays. It's when he comes. I watch from a distance. I can't help myself. But I was never supposed to talk to him. I know what you're thinking. But you don't know my story. You don't know the kind of monster my husband is. And trust me, you have no idea who I am.

Great Storyline
Revisado: 01-26-25
I didn't care too much for the narration, but the book actually turned out to be pretty good! I predicted the plot, but not entirely. I recommend this book for anyone who likes thrillers that are light reads (listen).

Loved the Epilogue!
Revisado: 01-24-25
I really enjoyed this book, although it was slow and bleak at times. The descriptions were also a bit repetitive. Still, it's definitely worth the read! The epilogue made me forget how slow the book felt (sometimes), and I wanted to know so much more!

Historia
Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence, due to my illness, and all were punished.

Male Narrator was Great!
Revisado: 12-26-24
Audiobook Review: I like the male's narration. However, the female's voice was just okay...I think that her needy/niave personality made it worse. She was very whiny at times. I remained intrigued, but also I also hoped she'd have more of a backbone.
Dominic story seemed to ve the nost interesting. I don't want to continue this series, but I will look for more books with the male narrator.

Farfected, but GOOD!
Revisado: 12-10-24
I enjoyed this book (via audiobook). Yes, there were some incidents that seemed farfetched. Also, the back & forth vendettas started to get ridiculous at times. Still, the writing and narration were both great!
Oh, if it weren't for me knowing a REAL sociopathic, narcissistic woman, I would think that the description of one of the characters was unrealistic. BUT, sadly, people like her actually exist.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Sleeping Pill
Revisado: 12-05-24
Listening to this book–strictly with regard to the narrator–was like taking a strong sleeping pill...her voice was so monotone, and low (almost like a whisper).
And, for this book to be written in 2018, the "homeschool stereotype" was absolutely ridiculous!!! "She reminds me of one of those homeschooled kids who are never allowed to go outside, so they're very pale." WHAT?! The author seems very limited with her views on homeschooling, along with other areas–there were so many ridiculous loopholes! I skipped some very slow parts, but still didn't miss much.

I really like the author, but this is my least favorite book. How disappointing to not know what happened to such as important character! I didn’t like all of the depressinf "surprises." The narration was also pretty bad.

Dreaming
Revisado: 11-25-24
I tell no lies, here: I dreamed of a much better ending after finishing this book! I woke up this morning thinking about my dream and how I wasted time on this audiobook!
I absolutely HATE when authors "lie" to their readers for a ridiculous shock-factor. When a character has an inner-monologue, it SHOULD be the truth. Suddenly, the inner-monologue changes and now there's a whole new personality that the same character has. I hate that! The bait-n-switch method on personalities is ridiculous!
The book could have actually been decent. Also, I couldn't stand most of the voices of the narrator(s).
It's too bad that the author also didn’t dream (or think) of another ending, like I did!

I was really hoping for a different ending...and, there were some unaswered questions, I had. Still this was one of the best books I've listned to in a while! It would be a great limited-series.
