Historia
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world." (Matthew 13:35) The word parable is derived from a Greek verb signifying “to compare” and therefore it means a comparison made between things in their own nature quite different, but which yet in some points resemble each other. A parable is a word-picture which uses an earthly image or story to try to illustrate a spiritual truth or lesson. It creates a mini-drama in verbal picture language that ...

Great explanation of the parables
Revisado: 09-10-24
I'm mixed about the virtual voice. I'm a fan of its clarity and steady cadence. I'm not so much of it mispronouncing things like Job (pronounced like an occupation) or saying semicolon/colon when reading verse references -- this is distracting and momentarily confusing. Perhaps this voice was used to save money or just to prove it could be done? I prefer a real reader after hearing this iteration.
Overall I thought the study was sound biblically and enjoyed the explanations.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Historia
Comparing Google to an ordinary business is like comparing a rocket to an Edsel. No academic analysis or bystanders account can capture it. Now Doug Edwards, Employee Number 59, offers the first inside view of Google, giving readers a chance to fully experience the bizarre mix of camaraderie and competition at this phenomenal company. I'm Feeling Lucky captures for the first time the unique, self-invented, yet profoundly important culture of the world's most transformative corporation.

Engaging insider perspective of Google.
Revisado: 06-25-12
What did you love best about I'm Feeling Lucky?
Plenty of detail regarding the the day-to-day operations at Google.
What did you like best about this story?
It covered the the internal corporate tension that is not typically revealed to the public.
What does Douglas Edwards bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He was there from the start; he was authentically Google-ly, and humble enough all the same -- could pick this up in his narration.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
"A talented, non-Engineer at Google claws and scrapes, in an effort to be noticed and respected among a sea of top-tier CS Majors." --- OK, obviously I won't be making a career writing tag lines...
Any additional comments?
A bit better than "In the Plex".

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

One of King's better, recent stories...
Revisado: 09-05-10
This story pleasantly surprised me in that it kept my attention throughout and despite its length. Yes, we are able to see on which side King's loyalties lie, however, to me the thought of a right-winged, over-the-top, religious villain seemed to work well in this story and was not insulting to me. In my view he strikes a good balance as several of the "heroes" law enforcement and military types -- two occupations that are often (though, of course not always) quite conservative. At any rate the story itself was unique and the narrator did a decent job capturing the moment(s) (in comparison, Duma Key, another recent story, just did not produce the same thrill ride for me).

Historia
America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

With a world like this, pray for an early death.
Revisado: 02-28-09
Was such a dreary, hopeless world McCarthy created -- had me thinking about it for days after finishing. Was the first McCarthy novel I had read. I've since been back for all of his other available audio books. There IS some hope to be found in this story; I was just amazed at how little of it there was to go around.

Wonderful, imaginative story
Revisado: 08-09-07
Have not read any other of Piers Anthony's works -- this one kept my attention through its entirety. A friend recommended this many years ago -- (not even sure if I finished it then!) Was elated when I found it on Audible -- I was not at all disappointed (narration was excellent).
