New York Times best-selling author Patrick Lencioni has written a dozen books that focus on how leaders can build teams and lead organizations. In The Motive, he shifts his attention toward helping them understand the importance of why they're leading in the first place. Lencioni thrusts his listeners into a day-long conversation between rival CEOs. Shay Davis is the CEO of Golden Gate Alarm, who, after just a year in his role, is beginning to worry about his job and is desperate to figure out how to turn things around.

useful but not beat narrarator
Revisado: 04-25-25
The info is great but the narrarator should have been someone who has more ability to not be so monotone. with a story like this you need inflection and character to immerse yourself

It's comforting to imagine that superstars in their fields were just born better equipped than the rest of us. When a co-worker loses 20 pounds, or a friend runs a marathon while completing a huge project at work, we assume they have more grit, more willpower, more innate talent, and above all, more motivation to see their goals through. But that's not at actually true, as popular Inc.com columnist Jeff Haden proves. "Motivation" as we know it is a myth. Motivation isn't the special sauce that we require at the beginning of any major change.

The narrarator reads in a way it feels conversational. The content isn't cliche while any that may be heard elsewhere is still spoken the proper amount. This might be worth a relisten at times.

Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Great follow up to can't hurt me
Revisado: 01-21-25
This will sound super cliche but.....just when you think he can't top something...he does. But the way it finalizes this book with how he ties in his personal growth with leadership was the most inspiring. It took all of he accomplishments and made them about more than just his own journey but the ability to make sure WE and others in his life are metaphorically the baddest person Alive in our own way. it's a great reminder book of how to push through pain. But doing so just because that's what your integrity requires. He is The ultimate " my story is worse so what's your excuse"

In The Return of the Gods, Cahn takes the listener on a journey from an ancient parable, the ancient inscriptions in Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia that become the puzzle pieces behind what is taking place in our world to this day, specifically in America. The mystery involves the gods. Who are they? What are they? And is it possible that these beings, whose origins are from ancient times, are the unseen catalysts of modern culture?

I apologize in advance for the rant.
This topic interested me but the book is misleading. I have personally not liked the author when I first began to learn of him. I always give people a chance but now I could care less for his content
AS FOR THE BOOK:
The author has written the book in a story like format or something. This is essentially a glorified sermon that could have ben Condensed down. I thought this would be a book of interesting archeological info and parallels. etc.
I expected : " Here is some ancient info about blank. Which connects well with current blank"
instead it's tough to follow with the style it's written in. "The ancient goddess did this and that and this and that, while in America there was a woman doing this an that"
Perhaps on terrible at describing it but save yourself the time. I am willing to bet that you're better off just researching Mesopotamian God's, ancient mythologies, etc, and figuring it out yourself.
I have much more to say but I feel I'm struggling to get the full expression of why I think it was a waste.

I was worried this book wouldn't be different from just repeating the baby steps but the author did a great job emphasizing them while giving tou great practical knowledge and advice. He also wrote in a way that was very empowering. which means a lot from me since I donr typically get sappy over things like that but he really made me feel empowered and concerned. I recommend this book to anyone.

You know who your competitors are. You keep tabs on them regularly, and can list them calmly, along with their strengths and weaknesses. But your enemies are a whole other matter. They’re the haters and the doubters who said you’d never make it, the ones who stomped on your dreams. When you think about your enemies, you get emotional. You feel like you won’t let anything—or anyone—stop you.
