Historia
On a remote Scottish island, the McBride house stands guard over its secrets. A century ago, a young widow and her son died mysteriously there. Just last year a local boy, visiting for a dare, disappeared without a trace. For Zoe Adams, newly arrived from America, the house offers a refuge from her failing marriage. But her peaceful retreat is disrupted by strange and disturbing events: night-time intrusions, unknown voices, and a constant sense of being watched.

Too boring to finish. see other reviews about non-consensual erotica/domination themes. Ew. Forewarning of that type of content should have been in the summary. Main character is one-dimensional, unrelatable, and BORING. Didn't want to finish this but based on other reviews, seems like I'm getting out before it continues to go nowhere. Narrator does a decent job, but with poor material to read, what can ya do?

Not "Award Winning" Narration...
Revisado: 12-30-21
Had to move to a physical copy for this epic journey and book undertaking. I was looking forward to getting started with the Wheel of Time series through audio book since they're so long, so lots of company while doing stuff or driving.
HOWEVER! It was only after I started the book that I noticed the narration was really off
-way too fast, had to slow the book to x0.85 for it to sound normal and be able to catch details
-Terrible!! enunciation of words and pronunciation of names/places/things.
Then I turned to reviews to see if it was just me... NOPE! apparently it gets even worse as the book goes on and the narrators switch on and off. They pronounce things differently between even each other.
Thanks to this garbage narration, I've started the series confused as to who is who (two characters with totally different names sound EXACTLY the same at the beginning) and what is going on.
Save yourself the agony, just read this one. Especially with this series, the devils in the details and you'll miss more by audiobook than by reading directly. Bummer I know, but don't make the same mistake the rest of us did and try to listen.

Shallow Characters & Predictable Story
Revisado: 06-06-21
This book has earned a place on my shelf of the worst books I've ever read (and it only joins one other). Because my overall review is about the garbage, I'll start with the "good" components of this book:
- it has the potential to be really good, interesting premise and ideas (but that are NOT examined in any meaningful way)
- it's nice to have a MC that struggles with mental challenges (social anxiety), but I feel as though the author could have portrayed this in a more meaningful way and just better than it is now
- the narrator has a good performance (limited by the writing style though)
- quick easy read of a book (kind of like fast food compared to a chef's master meal, this book is the fast food)
----
Opinions are opinions, not facts. These are my express impressions and opinions of the book. I tried to focus on components of literary quality and good storytelling, rather than the many MANY gripes and annoyances I had with this book. You may find the book wonderful and that you love it, I'm happy for you!
----
Issues with This Book (without spoilers, except last bullet):
- Poor pacing of events and relationships between characters, throughout. For example, one chapter could equal one day and another could equal weeks with events in these chapters progressing ridiculously fast or boringly slow.
- The plot of this book is so predictable it was killing me slowly... Not that plots need to be unpredictable to be good but without a reflection of the spontaneity of life, you would need to focus on the interesting components of your story and expand on those instead (i.e. character internal conflicts that are realistic or how their society shapes their accomplishments/capabilities). Honestly, it feels like I read a detailed outline for what this book could have been but it got published before any meaningful content was actually included.
- Characters are defined poorly with very few dimensions so they are difficult to connect/sympathize with or even care about. Hated all of them, unrelatable and did not act like real people.
- Similarly, the world building and context of this story/characters is also poorly defined or considered within the whole book (meaning things like this world's religion, society, or locations are mentioned mostly by name and used as plot/event points without really including what these things mean for main characters or how they influence other characters and events).
- Contradictions for Everyone!! There are hairbrained contradictions throughout this whole book. Characters think one thing in an absolute and then a chapter later, completely reverse themselves (but not in a believable way). The dumbest? The MC seriously thinks making magical weapons makes the world a safer place (but also expects her crafted weapons to be used and for no other purposes). Frustrating that the character barely considers how her craft actually impacts the world.
- There are also flavors of current sociopolitical trends throughout the book (i.e. gender differences but M vs F only, sexuality) but only in a way to satisfy "having them in there" without actually addressing or meaningfully including them. (>mild SPOILER but an important example: you can't have the acceptance of a gay couple but then have ALL the heterosexuality someone could ever read about and insults about robes as dresses on a man, come on).
Once again>> Opinions are opinions, not facts. These are my express impressions and opinions of the book. I tried to focus on components of literary quality and good storytelling, rather than the many MANY gripes and annoyances I had with this book. You may find it wonderful and that you love it, I'm happy for you!

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

If you're here, you are considering IT because you can't not know about it... The story is scary sure, gore galore and anxiety for characters you come to know and care about deeply. An interwoven tale of past and present following those characters and their journey to face IT. Do not believe what you've heard about the ending and give this a try!
The narrator is a MASTER and brings this book to life (even when you wish it wasn't because it is IT by SK after all).

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Don't be intimidated by the length of the book. Once you get started, you'll wish that it was even longer. The narrator is absolutely amazing and brings this story completely to life. On top of Gardner's rendition, Stephen King has put together a realistic account of mankind's follies. Jump in and fall in love with the characters and root for your favorites!

Don't waste your time with this crap book
Revisado: 05-03-15
What disappointed you about Love and Sex with Robots?
Levy significantly relies and uses psychological studies as evidence, but he is not a psychologist. And therefore does not have a credible standing to be USING such research for a ridiculous topic. (Never would I choose to read this crap, I was forced to for class.) The majority of the book is about non-existent programming and ideas that Levy has, while the other half is basically about the existing vibrators and sex toys that he thinks will contribute to "human" robots. Ridiculous jabbering from a fool! If I could give this ZERO stars, I surely would.
Would you be willing to try another one of James Adams’s performances?
James Adams's was fine. Nice to listen to, if it wasn't for the crap he was reading.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Love and Sex with Robots?
THE ENTIRE BOOK
