Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Very emotional
Revisado: 04-07-25
Very good storytelling with flawed characters (like we all are in real life) & showing how we all can rise above our flaws to be humane beings.

I enjoyed the story very much
Revisado: 03-06-24
This is the first AI generated narration I've listened to & it is VERY lacking compared to human narration. It was very flat & there was no attempt at different voices or accents.

Good story - bad narrator
Revisado: 12-27-23
The story overall was pretty good but the narrator wasn't. After listening to a narrator like Andrea Parsneau who has an entire library of voices for her narrations this was a big letdown. This narrator has no range of different characters voices (everybody sounds alike, male & female) but she continuously mispronounces words which drives me crazy!!!!!!!

Historia
Of course, if there were only one thing under Liscor, there would be far less to fear. However, the dungeon continues to be a threat. At the same time, Goblins continue to roam northern Izril, but not all of them are as hostile to people as Tremborag or the Goblin Lord. Will the Unseen Emperor of Riverfarm make that distinction, however? A reckoning is coming as old faces and new reemerge. And all the while, The Wandering Inn is still serving food and respite and even plays to adventurers and Antinium alike. But something is coming from the dungeons. And it—they—are hungry.

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Great story - FANTASTIC narrator
Revisado: 04-13-22
I have rarely written a review for anything but this series deserved it (especially after reading some of the negative reviews.
The story does start out slow, but stick with it. It keeps getting better. I've read a lot of bad reviews based on the first character that you meet, a teenager from our world who finds herself in another world without knowing how or why. Others think she whines too much & so on. I think she acts just like most spoiled teenagers of our time would if they were dumped somewhere without any modern conveniences & lots of dangers. Instead there is magic and at first, multiple scary sentient species.
It takes a while to meet all the different characters & it's worth the time. I have read up to Book 5 with Book 6 coming out in a few weeks. The story takes place in a very unique & interesting world. In all the fantasy genre books that i've read (and that's a lot) this world isn't like any other I've read about. There's adventure, danger, political intrigue along with kindness & deep friendships.
One thing that really adds to the story is the narrator, Andrea Parneau. She is the absolute best that I have ever heard & I listen to 4-6 audiobooks per week. She has a different voice for each character, so much so that you usually know who's talking before you're told. Her accents are spot on. American, British (upper class & cockney), Irish, Scottish, Slavic & even the insect species in the story sound like what you would imagine ant-like sentient beings would sound like! Because of her, the series needs to be heard in Audiobook format to enjoy it fully.

Historia
At the heart of a bizarre planet lay the goal of every being that had ever lived.… Below average in height and unprepossessing in appearance, Nathan Brazil is an unassuming if cynical starship owner, carrying passengers and cargo for a living - hardly the sort of person to hold the fate of the entire universe in his hands. But when Nathan detours from his route to answer a distress call, a hidden stargate hurls him and his passengers to the Well World, the master control planet for the cosmos. Billions of years ago, a godlike race unlocked all the secrets of space and time and remade the universe according to their grand design.

I loved this story! Just when I thought I knew where things were headed, they didn't! Extremely imaginative & well written. Loved the narrator but HATED the annoying background music that came & went. Only reason I'm not giving a full 5 star rating.

Great story. Horrible narrator.
Revisado: 09-20-20
I have been a fan of Anne Rice for many years. I have the hardcover versions of all the Vampire chronicle , Mayfair Witches, etc & am a recent convert to audiobooks. Up to this final (?) Lestat story the narrators have been impeccable. This narrator is HORRIBLE!! Doesn't even try to get the accents correct & his voice is overall ANNOYING!

I loved this story. My only complaint is with the musical portions in between some chapters. It was just plain annoying. It didn't add anything positive but made it hard to hear the actual narration until it FINALLY faded out.

For most people, the story of their lives is just that: the accumulation of time, encounters, and actions into a cohesive whole. But for an unfortunate few, that day-to-day existence is affected - perhaps infected is a better word - by memetic incursion: where fairy tale narratives become reality, often with disastrous results.

Love the story!
Revisado: 04-23-19
I loved the unique spin on this supernatural story. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the voice used by the narrator for Sloan. The valley girl voice for a bad ass just irritated me to no end & took away from Sloan’s strong character who is over 300 years old & sounds like a teenager from the 80’s.
