🌺Great 1st Read, Book #1 Mr.Gregg's new Remedial Magic Series!! You'll become immersed in the story .
Revisado: 08-30-24
🌺Loved this story. Book 1 got off with a great start, and I can't wait to read the entire series!! I found a this story to be a fantastic escape from my stressful day to day schedule... 🌺 This first book ended too soon for me, but... good thing I already bought book 2. Will start listening tomorrow evening! But seriously, this is a really great read, I am glad I was offered an ARC read, and I am totally hooked! Smile... Mr. Gregg does a meticulous job of bringing Aldric and all the characters in this story to life, he has a way of using details and descriptions that emmerse you into his world, as the characters become relatable, they feel as if they are comming to life...and you feel as if your really there, as everything around you melts away. A "great" author can bring his story and characters to life, and Mr.Gregg has when his main character is developed this way, in addition to his other characters made the story emersive, with a good solid paced plot.
I enjoyed this story, seeing it is from the perspective of a professor in a magic school setting. I became emersed in the characters! Magic school scenarios are prevalent in fantasy settings, but usually told from the perspective of a student. Walking in the shoes of a progessor mage, is a refreshing perspective that gave that made this story so imersive and enjoyable. If your fav story setting ismagic schools, with a magic system so well mapped out it feels real to the story's world, add compelling characters you can feel for, you definitely need to give this series a read, you won't soon forget it and you will feel compelled to read on!
There are several interwoven threads that weave you into the plot. First of all, the school and the magic system is so well thought out it will weave you into a new reality.
"Nevis Academy" is NOT a "Hogwarts" clone.
Second, Aldric is a hero, an extraordinary character who NEVER gives up. This story takes you into it's intriguing storyline and as you journey into it, the mysterious past begins to unravel.... I am hooked, and you will also find yourself itchingly compelled to start book 2 !

🌺Decent story, too much descriptive dialogue,
Revisado: 06-29-24
First I want to say I spend 5 of 7 days/ nights a week with audio books. And I appreciate every Authors sacrifice... whether I am compatible with their writting style or not individual characters telling it.)
My review;
🌺The fury or a Vampire Witch🌺
I found Mercy and her group of friends and cohorts a mixed bunch, each having their own agenda, the final end game to save humans and stop others who would obliterate humans and the planet was the main agenda but for a few whom were on the questionable list for Mercy's trust, were in it to save their own hides first. I read several reviews before writting this and found that I had a different opinion than most reviewers.
So here goes...
The story line is good abiet this is an extremely short read for me, I finished in the first day into the evening. My first impression came to me early on. The main character Mercy finds out just how complicated it is to be the queen, with the added complications of being a witch mixed with the rules and needs that come with her vampirism weighs on her throughout the story.
Mercy finds that threats abound, each decision she makes finds her with a new issue she has to work with and get past. But Mercy is a fighter who won't give up as she works with her crew backing her, they in the end defeat their adversaries. But you are left with the assumption hanging that along with their victory things will not stay that way for long.
🌺My impressions of the narration & writting of this story:
Mercy and her friends conversations were long and they seemed to be packing every detail telling the story into them. I have not read an author who had this writting style before and found myself wanting things to move on, some action to happen, but the story unfolded slowly amidst, long conversations.
The author unpacked so many detailed descriptions in the characters conversations with one another. I was waiting so long for some kind action to unfold, and the scene to change, but I found this was not just in the beginning but thruout the book. Conversations are not normally like this it is what gave me the impression I was on listening to a story teller.
I was unable to get close to or feel any empathy or endearment for the characters, or become immersed in the story. To me, it was like ( a story being narrated by 1 person and not individual characters telling it.)
This paranormal series did have humor, action, danger, & drama, but being unable to relate to the characters, I can honestly say, I appreciate being given the opportunity to read a new author, however it fell short endearing itself to me, falling short of being an enjoyable read.
Vampires and humans being hunted, the idea of a rip between worlds had much promise for being a great story, but it lacked the ability to endear the characters to me, and I couldnot become emersed in the story. This is a PG15, and I prefer stories without heated trysts inserted in every turn of the plot...
🪷NOTE: This author has good story line, and certainly has a talent for writing. However, Author who put time and pre-work into investigating details to enhance their stories are talented and each has their own unique style of writting...
Theophilus Monroe is a good Author, but her style of packing details into her characters conversations, causes me to be unable to connect with the characters...As I have read many other reviews of this 5 book set, my opinion is only one in many, others are charmed, endeared, love the characters and can't wait to enjoy more! Please don't take my review as a negative, Read this Authors books, decide for yourself. I appreciate and recognise the sacrifice and time devoted to writting these books. Time taken away from family, friends and loved ones to share the imagination & a piece of oneself with us.
Thank you for reading my review.

Enjoyed but at times got lost/dragged in parts
Revisado: 12-24-22
I started this series and the beginning had many parts that dragged & I honestly lost what was going on. But as the book progressed it got much better ( a warm up¿) now at the end I am looking for the continuing books on hoopla or other library resources as I am out of credits & it is Christmas Eve, near month end also I have already spent too much buying the first few books. You learn to hate the characters that are bad, I am still on the fence about Merlin, the author seems to pass opportunity by to develope characters that should be the main ones, like Merlin, he is an evasive character who has been given very little detail & he appears & leaves just as fast ( maybe a total of 3 times in these books so far) You would think with Morgan's abilities, Merlin would be interested in her yet close to the last books end, you find Morgan mesmerized with the heatless flame in the castles candles that never go out. Merlin has a few brief words about how he created them & Morgan scoffs what he says & tells him to take himself away to his devils work ( She healed herself early on using a "spell" from a spellbound that included natural herbs & the main Nun in the convent burned the book. ) Yest Morgan portrays the same short minded attitude as others as if she is innocent & Merlin is in with the Devil, it is such a contradiction & confusing. Has the Author forgotten her herons personality & what Morgan is researching & the book with forbidden information she & her ladies are writting & conceiling for fear of herracy? I will continue reading because of my time & $ invested so far, because I want to know the end, however... but I am very dissapointed with the author and this will be my last read in her titles.

I am shocked,10 books wasted, just to make a buck!
Revisado: 12-22-22
THE COVER GRAPHICS ARE THE ONLY THING OF VALUE HERE......
O.K. so the Author spent enough time to compile characters, Neth( spelled right¿ ) the main character in this book is reminiscent of a 13yr. old with A.D.H.D. his personality is underdeveloped & he is immature and constantly cannot see past his face at the situation around him. For all of his thousands of years alive his reasoning never gets past his first thought in any situation & he attacks/ approaches every situation with zeal & total stupidity....his only decent thoughts that he has are from instances where his father or others have said something in the past that should make a beginning impression on him & give him a basis to think & reason the situation out, yet he goes forward with it remembered, and wasted on him.He remembers what was said then reacts by going foreward on his poor instinct and first impression alone.( to what purpose?) (Apologies, I think his 1 step thought process has rubbed off on me...Lol) From book one to book ten he spends his time sleeping, plodding ahead blindly without reason of his own, or destroying the Dragons he is trying to save...the whole time accomplishing nothing. ( Never have I read so many words that culminate into a character getting no where . Yet ending up saving his world...or as his Father at the end tells him how proud Neth has made him yet to sum it up" people act individually their own thoughts and you can't ever be sure if the outcome is what you think it is"
In other words the reason f you can't be sure if the Author achieved anything at the end this entire series is unknown and means nothing... I wish I could get my credit back...I will never read this Author again as my time and $ was wasted to put a dollar in the Authors pocket....I feel totally robbed. ( I have read YA books that had airhead, hormone drived characters who have one track minds that drove me nuts with repetitive swearing and/or puberty gushing over another character(( but the story line were& characters were more developed) I considered those to be written without much talent and by multiple people to throw a book together by a deadline to keep the trash romance flowingfor the almighty dollar) THIS SERIES Started with 1, characters who have a name/ nationality/ 2. a world/ place referred to but never developed past the names of places. 3. The LAST book wrapped up with jumping 7 years, Neff laid in a cart embued with a magic spell that kept him, the cart & those hiding him while he slept invisible. There is more time spent describing the condition of the hay, Mud on the road and a few times in those 7 years that they were almost discovered. and how much older his protecting companion looks since the last time Neff saw him before falling asleep. ( yet it is only mentioned, no story is told ordetails are given )
**LIKE THIS REVIEW....THE SERIES OF 10 BOOKS IS A JUMBLE OF THOUGHTS AND WORDS...AND HAS NO VALUE OR MEANING.... Don't waste your credit or your time.... ! @Windshadow

❣️Again, Kristoff Has us "In Love" w the Dammed❣️
Revisado: 11-27-22
Loved it, I became enamored with the "Never Night" Series, and found tears on my cheek at the end as many did.
Kristoff has did it again, We fall in loved with one Gabriel DeLeon, who very soon walks the path of the dammed, a boy of 16 who becomes a Silver Saint and becomes a man all too soon in this unholy world..Silver Saints an Order of Undead Holy Slayers are made up of "Coldbloods" like Gabriel. Men born half Vampire & half human trained to kill the undead. He kills without conscience but deep inside is a bit of empathy for those closest to him and be dammed with the rest! He has with one foot on the precipice of slipping into the forever of hell, while walking a world that is sliding into darkness. Which side of the mirror is this? Gabriel DeLeon a man who is in constant turmoil dealing with sanity that truly balances on the edge of insanity. Fighting an inborn thirst for human blood, after joining the "Order" he becomes addicted to "Sanctus" dried processed " Vampire blood" which he needs frequently and Smokes ( free bases) to stave insanity & have inhuman strength & a sembelance of mental control. Yet he made a vow he would never partake of living blood as that would make him a Monster. ( Ironic) Captured by the very Vampires he is vowed to destroy, he is made to tell his life story...and so the book begins. I confess I have the book on my bed, but relented to listen to the audio version. I quickly became accustomed to the narrators voice with the characters & became fully immersed in 27 hours of a new world. I listened thru everything I did for 2.5 days & now I can't begin to describe how the impatient forced wait for book two will mentally cost me....( Until then I will be monitoring Mr. Kristoff Instagram feed...Oh, yea...Jay does talk with his followers, and respond to messages, it is really Awesome to find an Author who values his fans & gives them feedback. Thank you J.K. again, I give Praise to one of my very few Favorite Authors, and admit right now he is #1.
Sigh...to begin the wait...Give this book a try, you won't be dissapointed & you just might fall in love with a new genre & a character or two...maybe even a new Author...Smile...🌺Windshadow

"¿Could this be a possible future for Mankind?"
Revisado: 05-27-19
Enjoyed this book, well written and equally well read by the narrator. Made me think a time or two about how humans would react given we survive to a future point where we have the capability to digitally imprint the mind. With the posability of all aspects of human nature that could unfold in such a scenario, the author keeps the story line at a fairly tame level. No blood , gore or major human casualties. Robots for the major part had a prime objective ( preserve human life at all cost) However a sect did start a faction of robots that wanted to upload into humanbodies cloned with crystaline brains to become human. And humans uploading into robots comes into play in the last book. Altogether good read. Thank you to the Author for the time spent over the making of this story, In Appreciation, Windshadow

Wasn't sure I would like it...
Revisado: 05-13-19
Narrator was good.
The story line was compelling , because whi's to say this isn't in the works or will be a future scenario as far as cloning goes. The Gov't is Secretive, & the Private sector has joined the ranks.
Some of the actions of characters in the story got you thinking, " ok, how can you be so naive" to put it politely. But then again they are unwordly teenagers!
the last book did a bit of jumping around and then the author tied up the ending rather quickly, compared to the other situations that were pretty detailed and took a while to work thru to the next situation.( I honestly feel she cheated the last book and story's ending, it was short & sweet, and came before you realized it. I was sitting here looking at the review page that instantly popped up, realizing the ending over the last (Few) chapters had left me with questions. My actual thought was, she" the author" must have had run up on her deadline so she tied up the ending post haste ! )¿? O.K. I'm good, its over, would be nice if she continued with a sequel, there's plenty of future to write.....?¿

Didn't want this to end...Must buy next following sets! Leaves you wanting more of the continuing story!♡♡♡Loved the Characters, I read Fiction YA as an adult for the story, adventure & escape..the romance in these books is light, sweet & feel good genuine without getting descriptive or playing out scenes. The Author expertly shared the growing romance throught the story, without getting involved in hormones and changing the storys direction. So you share the emotion just enough to understand and be happy for Cassie & Aiden! Very tastefully done, appropriate for any age. Too many Authors merdge into Romance acts in their YA books today. When the best story should be balanced and keep you emersed in the big picture where it is hard to put "a good book down" Thank you for a truly enjoyable read(listen) that has me signing off to purchase the next titles, "Right Now!"
