Useful but.....
Revisado: 02-12-18
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Irritating music during hypnosis segment, very inappropriate choice and mixed so loud as to make it hard to listen, get relaxed and focus on the treatment. As a pro audio mixer, I was so moved to action that I wrote Dr. Hill about this important issue. I could not relax or enjoy the program because of the percussive nature and high irritation of the loud music. You've been warned.
Would you be willing to try another book from Janet Mary Hall? Why or why not?
No. Fix your mixes!

Historia
A working stargate dating back more than 10,000 years has been discovered in North Dakota, on a Sioux reservation near Devils Lake. Travel through the gate currently leads to three equally mysterious destinations: (1) an apparently empty garden world, quickly dubbed Eden; (2) a strange maze of underground passageways; and (3) a space station with a view of a galaxy that appears to be the Milky Way.

Disappointed
Revisado: 10-16-17
As a long time fan of Jack McDevitt. I find perplexed and disappointed because of the potential for this story to be great. Two things really bother me about this tale. The first point is the history of the treatment of Native Americans by this country. I was constantly being pulled out of the story. I found it hard to suspend my disbelief because, there’s no way that I could believe that the United States would treat Native Americans with the respect and latitude given them. It kept pulling me out of the story to be asked to believe that the government would behave as it does in this book.
My second point is that the narrator, Kevin R. Free, is terrible at storytelling. His attempts at accents and doing voices is insulting and sounds like he’s narrating a children’s tale. Disappointing.

They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

Characters are two dimensional and unlikable winers.
Not the best sf out there these days.

Historia
The people of Earth now know that the human Colonial Union has kept them ignorant of the dangerous universe around them. For generations the CU had defended humanity against hostile aliens, deliberately keeping Earth an ignorant backwater and a source of military recruits. Now the CU’s secrets are known to all. Other alien races have come on the scene and formed a new alliance - an alliance against the Colonial Union. And they’ve invited the people of Earth to join them. For a shaken and betrayed Earth, the choice isn't obvious or easy.

He said She said
Revisado: 06-18-15
Almost unlistenable because of the script interpretation. The constant use of John said Sarah said Bill said etc., Over and over again it's sickening and constantly pulls you out of the story. I don't blame the narrator, I blame the producer! I I suggest in the future they lose at least 90% of the he said sh said crap because the narrator is good enough that we get who's talking. Get it together.

Historia
Others have written science fiction on the theme of immortality, but in The Boat of a Million Years, Poul Anderson made it his own. Early in human history, certain individuals were born who live on—unaging, undying—through the centuries and millennia. This story follows them over two thousand years, up to our time and beyond—to the promise of utopia, and to the challenge of the stars.
