Historia
This is a very good read. It is the first novel in an action-packed multi-book military saga that follows the life of a combat soldier from his early years in the Korean War to his middle age in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere in Israel and the middle east in wars that are in the immediate future. It is fast paced and action-oriented as casualties and a willingness to sign up for additional front line tours and new wars result in Roberts shouldering responsibilities far beyond his years. Fans of WEB Griffin, Larry Bond, Tom Clancy, and Harold Coyle will enjoy this great addition ...

What a disappointment
Revisado: 06-04-24
I was really hoping this would be a great book/series. As it turns out, I'm struggling to even finish the last couple chapters. Comparing this book to books by WEB GRiffin, Harold Coyle, Tom Clancy, etc. is a joke. The absolute worst thing about it is the AI Voice. It is absolutely TERRIBLE. Tons of mistakes, and total lack of proper empahsis to understand intent of sentences. AI can't tell the difference between words like "lead", is it pronounced led or leed, etc. If you can somehow get by the pitiful narration, you have to try and ignore the erroneous "facts" and geography. I realize it is a "novel", but that should just be for units and characters, not the Korean War timeline or the geography of Korea. Author has a US headquaters located in Seoul while the US is behind the Pusan Perimeter. He has Incheon "north" of Seoul, instead of west. And on and on. I don't htink I can take any more of these inconsistanceis.

Nice Stories, but the devil is in the details
Revisado: 07-13-23
I have continued to buy and read this series. Each time wondering why. I generally enjoy the stories and plots. But in this most recent book, it seems that the things that have bugged me in previous storeis has gotten worsee. Understand it is a "novel" and a work of fiction, but if you are gong to to use actual weapons and weapons paltforms, at least get the details correct. There are too many wrong facts, or erroneous information to list. This has been noticable in each book, but seems worse here. Each time I hear one of those it detraacts from the experience. There are also frequently repeated phrases and sentences not far apart in the story. Again, distraction....from an otherwise enjoyable story.
And as far as the performance, that is even worse. The narrator uses a simulated "shout", dragging out words as if being shioted way, wayyyyyy too often. It is very tiresome. Also, many words are mispronounced. Especailly location names.
Although I gnerally enjoy the storylines of these books, this will probably be my last as I can no longer get past the inconsistancies and narration. Get a better proofreader and new narrator, and I'd gladly come back.

Story seemed like it would be interesting, but I just couldn't keep listening to the performance. It was terrible. I couldn't finish the book, even though it seemed it would be a good story.

"Performance" is the wrong word .......
Revisado: 06-01-20
Not bad if you can put up with the narrator long enough to finish the book (which is a real challenge). "Performance" is not accurate for this book, more like some of the free services where you get a book "read" to you in a monotone voice. I expect better from Audible books I pay for. And then when he is not narrating....the "voices" he uses for the characters, like the Sec of Defense etc,, are horrible, if I wasn't' trying to enjoy the book, it would be comical. To make it worse, Many of the names (of places, rivers, bases, titles, acronyms) are mispronounced. If this was the last book in the series, or the next book had the same narrator, I wouldn't even have kept listening.

Great storyline, didn't want to put it down.
Revisado: 02-06-20
The story was great, and kept moving. Didn't want to stop. Great, fast pace across continents and oceans. would have liked more about the "Korean War though. Other than the one small tank/drone battle, coverage of the "war" was non-existent.
Narration was hard to handle, but the good story overcame it. Many places where the story changed characters/locales within a chapter (and there probably was a double space in the printed version), the narrator did not pause or break tempo. Also, for a story which prominently featured Korea and Koreans, you'd think the narrator would have looked up word pronounciations. Well over half the Korean words and names were pronounced wrong! This was very distracting.

Revisado: 07-09-14
What made the experience of listening to Saving Faith the most enjoyable?
Storyline was interesting.
Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Kramer’s performances?
Definitely not. Seemed like he was trying to imitate Clint Eastwood or something, and it just didn't work.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I'd only recommend the hardcopy, not the audio book.
What didn’t you like about J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ’s performance?
Voices and accents just seemed very much off the mark. Every time I resumed the book, the narration got on my nerves.
