Historia
Over a decade ago, Martin Seligman charted a new approach to living with "flexible optimism". Now, in his most stimulating and persuasive book to date, the best-selling author of Learned Optimism introduces the revolutionary, scientifically based idea of "Positive Psychology". Positive Psychology focuses on strengths rather than weaknesses, asserting that happiness is not the result of good genes or luck.

Seligman quotes multiple researchers, but in my opinion the organization and the FLOW of thoughts could be better. Also I’m not surprised that some other listeners fell asleep. I did, too. If you suffer from insomnia, this is a good cure. The book is a bit boring. Also some spots raised my eyebrows - sleeping with your infant & touching their genitals. This is where we need to separate science from the practices that we do as parents. While we may want to justify what we do, when you write PhD next to your name & are as famous as Seligman, you need to think twice before writing such things. “According to a 2024 Pediatrics study, 59.5% of infants who died suddenly were sharing a sleep surface at the time of death, and 75.9% were in an adult bed.” Also the research quoted in the book is very basic. There are so many more studies that could have been included to make it more interesting and improve the flow. Some people complain that it’s a shortened version of the book, but I personally would find it hard to listen to this longer than 4 hours.

I like the idea of having a life mission & implementing it in our daily lives. I think however that we should ask each woman what her purpose/passion/goal in life is rather than assuming that she should be happy giving birth to kids and cleaning the house. For example, sometimes men could help us more, so we can do other great things for humanity.

Why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can't remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? These and other questions have stumped both sexes throughout the ages. Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think and what they value.

Good, but not the best

There is some useful info, although I bought a couple of other books on the subject and the other one is much better, uses much more research.
The voice is very annoying and slow, so I increased the speed when listening.

So so...
Revisado: 10-04-18
First of all, I found the hoarse voice of the speaker rather unpleasant and annoying... Second, I have some psychic abilities, too. In this book, it was not easy to understand which things she personally felt and experienced and what she only read, as I get an impression that she did copy much from other people. For example, mandala and OM. If you have never read about it, no way it will come to you. Or marble buildings. I never feel/see such things, even though I do feel and see A LOT. I guess, younger and more physical, materialistic souls can see such things, as they are still attached to the earth and all that they left behind. More advanced souls go to higher worlds. I didn't like her calling angels other species. When you don't need to incarnate again, you do ascend to higher dimentions. Suicides. I didn't like that either. She's so judgemental. About beautiful people, too. My cousin killed himself when he was 22. Now he is my son. He's very smart boy. Many years passed since his death and he spent that time guiding other souls. But he got bored. Anyways, she has some dark energy in her eyes, which I don't like. I guess it could be related to her anger (the way she spoke to the spirits) and judgement. Suicide is like Armani. Labeling people. I'll write a couple of books on this leter. It all depends on the intensions of a person and the level of their spiritual development. Did she study theology? It would make sense. So one suicide may need to come back and pay like karma - continue learning the lessons they didn't learn in the past life. For example, a man drinks alcohol, doesn't take care of his son, who dies, and then he understands what he did and kills himself. In the next life, he is a woman, who cannot have kids and dies of cancer. The whole story is, of course, much longer and more complex than this. Others, like my cousin, come back and help others, as he was already a good person. He just needed to be more determined. Not to allow others to exploit him and push him around. So he chose me and my husband as parents and he will achieve a lot and no one will stop him this time. So I don't like she's so judgemental. I feel like judgment often comes from superficial understanding. According to my friend, she has yellow aura with some green. Such people still use mind a lot and it could mix up with intuition. So I guess all books on spirituality and afterlife are a reflection of our own soul and spiritual maturity. And indeed, the afterlife IS our soul. Like our soul becomes the space. It becomes all. For some people, it's full of buildings and people. For others, it's empty. For others, no form, just loving entities. Or mental dimensions. Yes, guys, we are going home and our home is within... How cool.

Historia
In 1927, Zora Neale Hurston went to Plateau, Alabama, just outside Mobile, to interview 86-year-old Cudjo Lewis. Of the millions of men, women, and children transported from Africa to America as slaves, Cudjo was then the only person alive to tell the story of this integral part of the nation's history. Hurston was there to record Cudjo's firsthand account of the raid that led to his capture and bondage 50 years after the Atlantic slave trade was outlawed in the United States. In 1931, Hurston returned to Plateau, the African-centric community three miles from Mobile.

If you like African American accent
Revisado: 05-24-18
Is this book for African Americans only or all people? The speech is made on purpose difficult to understand, which makes me regret that I didn’t buy the hard copy. If she made an effort to imitate that man’s speech, maybe she should also talk in a man’s voice, child’s voice, etc. Ridiculous. I think if you want to educate “white” people on these issues, this is not the way to go. I was so curious and now I’m just disappointed and annoyed. English is already not my native language, but adding African dialect on top of that is too much to handle.

"No" is sometimes the hardest word to say. It's also the most necessary. How many times have you heard yourself saying yes to the wrong things - overwhelming requests, bad relationships, time-consuming obligations? How often have you wished you could summon the power to turn them down? This program will help you take back your power by showing that a well-placed "No" can not only save you time and trouble, it can save your life.

A bit annoying
Revisado: 07-17-16
I liked the part where the man is talking, but I found the woman's part annoying - both the voice and the story, so I couldn't finish.
