Historia
From July 10, 1943, the date of the Allied landing in Sicily, to May 8, 1945, when victory in Europe was declared - the entire time it took to liberate Europe - no regiment saw more action, and no single platoon, company, or battalion endured worse, than the ones commanded by Felix Sparks, who had entered the war as a greenhorn second lieutenant of the 157th "Eager for Duty" Infantry Regiment of the 45th "Thunderbird" Division. Sparks and his fellow Thunderbirds fought longest and hardest to defeat Hitler.

An anti gun book
Revisado: 03-30-25
While most of the book was interesting, the ending brings into question the accuracy of the entire book. While what happened to the grandson of the main protagonist was tragic, The author’s outright fabrications about Columbine demonstrate the authors hoplaphobia and diminished the entire book.
It is interesting how a man who fought in war for peoples freedom in the end sought to deprive people in his own nation of their freedom. A liberator of a concentration camp filled with people who were there because of their inability to defend themselves; he ironically finished his life trying to perpetuate the conditions that permitted over 200 concentration camps to be created by the Nazi’s.
The author is definitely off my reading list.

Story flowed like a Clive Cussler novel complete with unexpected twists. Many of the mispronunciations required backing up and listening again to figure out what was trying to be said.

Good and bad…could be better
Revisado: 09-26-24
While the storyline is the author’s typical top quality, it is sad to see the the author’s embracing society’s limited vocabulary. His prolific use of both the “F” word and its gerund form makes this book a taudry shell of what it could have been. Past publication’s of this series have shown that the author is capable of better. I would hope that future installments demonstrate greater imagination in phraseology with less reliance on the shock value of gutter language. The author’s past reflects his command of humor and witticism that does not need comedy club shock lines. The author once stated he started writing to produce good Sci-fi. I hope he returns to his stated purpose.

Historia
The modern apologetics classic that started it all is now completely revised and updated - because the truth of the Bible doesn't change, but its critics do. With the original Evidence That Demands a Verdict, best-selling author Josh McDowell gave Christian audiences the answers they needed to defend their faith against the harshest critics and skeptics. Now, with his son Sean McDowell, Josh McDowell has updated and expanded this classic resource for a new generation. This is a book that invites listeners to bring their doubts.

Critical of all who don’t believe as he does
Revisado: 06-21-24
This author claims his book is a reference to be used as evidence for Christian apologists. He is fairly good at referencing bible verses to validate his version of Christianity. Early in the book He uses this work as at hit piece against those who don’t agree with his narrower views with so called “facts” with no references that are in fact either errors on his part or blatant lies. He takes numerous pot shots at Seventh Day Adventist and those he calls “Mormons”. There is no “Mormon” church. That is a derogatory invective against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Examples of his invective include:
1. Mormonism is based on gold plates. False, based on Jesus Christ our lord and savior.
2. Mormonism is not the true church because it excluded blacks. False. He needs to check his history, not lies told by enemies (mostly self righteous “Christians”)
3. Mormons claim there is no trinity in scriptures. False. The Godhead consists of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Uses circuitous logic to prove his points
A jury would not find in his favor
Cherry picks his “evidence”
It’s true because “he says so”
If you can get past his soapbox to the end, he does make good points for the most part.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Revisado: 04-20-24
As one who cared for my wife until she passed, I wish that I had read this book before. My beliefs were no help in dealing with my wife’s death. I had no one that I could share my feelings. We only had Hospice for 24 hours. This book has done more for me than the five and one half years since my wife’s passing has accomplished. Thank-you.

Never cared for time travel novels before, boy was I wrong!
Revisado: 01-29-24
The author blends history with a tale that you can almost believe is true. The saying that to be good science fiction it must first be good fiction. This is great fiction. I was reluctant to purchase these works due to not caring for previous time travel stories of other authors. Victor Zugg has made me a convert, especially of his works. These are the best books I have completed of the 400+ I have completed in the last 2 years.

Couldn’t put it down. Best of the 200 I have listened to this Year.
Revisado: 10-24-23
Wonderful story! Lots of action. Great escape. It brings to mind sci-fi I loved reading as a teen more than 50 years ago. It is also refreshing reading from an author that doesn’t rely on the limited vocabulary of modern day vulgarity. The failure to try to explain the technology does not detract from the story. Any pseudoscientific gobbledygook would have been tedious and just bogged down the story and is really unnecessary. I have already ordered the second (Moon’s of Intaurus, hard copy) book and am looking forward to reading it. There are many parallels between this story and Starwars (the original first movie (episode 4)). I found the narrator cumbersome and lacking until I increased the listening speed to 2.5x. He is then quite good. Thus the 5 stars.

An arrogant, self righteous diatribe against religion
Revisado: 09-30-23
The narrator speaks so slow to make a snail appear to move at faster than the speed of life. Great though if you have insomnia.
The author shows his bias against religion with many of the arguments given by atheists. He seems to expect everyone to reject anything that doesn’t have the stamp of approval from science. He says that nothing is ever settled by science, except of course climate change. Scientists cannot agree on climate either.
The author pushes science to the level of religion while claiming to be a skeptic of religion, but not science. Conclusions of science are being overturned daily. Sciences track record is less than stellar.
Finally, this work feels like the author is sitting on a high throne talking down to all of us unwashed who do not agree with the correct view (his). Many scientists (including me) do not agree with all his many “scientifically proven” views.
