A Fantastic Continuation
Revisado: 01-05-25
Just as the title of this review claims, this story is a fantastic sequel to Divine Rivals. The story is every bit as lovely, evoking, and anticipatory as it's predecessor. The narrators are fantastic as well. Bravo for not sounding like every other bland narrator and really embodying the characters. To which point the characters are likewise all brilliantly written.

Though highly scientific, the process is also sensitive and intimate; she becomes attached to the individuals she identifies, desperate to find justice for each. As Zoe examines old remains, she sees a teenage girl looking back at her - the victim in a cold case from over a decade ago.

The narration was bland. The story was a basic procedural police investigation and was not very intriguing.

Going to Cabin Green alone after the death of his fiancee was Ben's first mistake. His second mistake was tempting fate by saying, "There's no such thing as an evil building." Now he's caught in a nightmare of his own making deep in the woods of Northern Michigan. Even worse, a family history of mental illness makes it impossible for him to know if the ghosts haunting the cabin are real or all in his head.

Acid Trip
Revisado: 07-12-24
I spent majority of the time trying to follow this story line. Most of it is a hallucinatory acid trip typ story line and the haunting aspect doesn't really hit until the last hour and a half give or take. Even then it really leaves you wanting.

Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Mild but intriguing ...
Revisado: 08-14-23
Although I would rate this story as pretty mild, I really enjoyed the premise of the overall story. The characters were well written and enjoyable. The only qualm I have is that the narrator is very robotic.

Fantasticly Eerie
Revisado: 12-16-20
Absolutely loved this book. One of the very best ghost stories I've ever read. It's told from the ghost's perspective allowing the reader access to the spirits thoughts. The Japanese culture made it especially intriguing and enticing. Better still was the performance of the narrator. She gave me chills with the delivery of certain passages. Definitely plan on hunting down a (hopefully hardback) copy of this for my shelves.
