Historia
In the New York Times bestseller Brain Rules, Dr. John Medina, a molecular biologist, shares his lifelong interest in how the brain sciences might influence the way we teach our children and the way we work. In each chapter, he describes a brain rule - what scientists know for sure about how our brains work - and then offers transformative ideas for our daily lives. Medina’s fascinating stories and infectious sense of humor breathe life into brain science.

Great content, tinged with unfounded assumptions.

So close! This book really opened my eyes to different ways of looking at intelligence, however, the authors bias toward atheism prevented his full exploration of the subject matter. In at least two areas he delved into reforming the ways we teach children but it seems he couldn’t quite entertain the Honest, scientific notion that perhaps we should re-examine the establishment of schools altogether. Perhaps school is the problem with the way we teach children.

Historia
Award-winning historian and best-selling author Paul L. Maier has created a compelling style of documentary fiction. He uses what is historically known of Pilate's life, adds in the known political climate of first-century Judea, and unveils the colorful, untold story that changed history. Filling in the details of Pilate's early career in Rome, Maier captures the drama of imperial Rome under Tiberius Caesar, the plotting of his political allies and enemies, and his relationship with his beloved but ambitious wife, Procula.

Great book full of history!

I very much enjoyed this read. The reader mispronounced several times, which I found distracting, but did an above average job, overall.

Historia
First published in 1952, Witness came on the heals of America's trial of the century, in which Whittaker Chambers accused Alger Hiss, a full-standing member of the political establishment, of spying for the Soviet Union. In this penetrating philosophical memoir, Chambers recounts the famous case as well as his own experiences as a Communist agent in the United States, his later renunciation of communism, and his conversion to Christianity.
