When Three is Not a Crowd

I’ll be honest here. I got this offering because of Jason Clarke and Jacob Morgan. I absolutely love both of their voices. The story was good enough, kind of what you’d expect. I was thinking there would be more of the parental Hump to get over, it seemed a bit short & kind of just thrown in there. But that was okay-ish. And why the out of left field comment about her brother being gay? Not necessary. Anyway, the male narrators are what made it for me. I was glad I took a chance. Note I’ll go hunting for whatever else I can find with their smooth as silk voices.

The story was fair. It made sense. But the narration was weak. I kept wanting for a little better narration. My big question ~ whatever happened to the knot & being joined…?

I was slightly disappointed.

I guess I was expecting more or something different. This series brought me up & down. I liked Elodie enough to keep going. Lexie was good, too. Then we had the male narrator who was a villain in the first book, voicing the lead in Carley (I think) & I got turned off… I absolutely LOVED Monica. Loved the PTSD, the slow burn. And Ashland, OMG, all the sexual heat that was missing in Monica was there in Ashland.
So, I had high hopes for Jodelle & Baker. Somehow I felt cheated. The multiple epilogue updates were a somewhat saving grace. Kinda reminded me of the final episode of the TV show 'Six Feet Under'.

Although I’ve liked other of Susan Stoker’s offerings, this one has me rolling my eyes and just wishing it would be over (I have this thing about finishing something I’ve started). The story did have a slight twist I wasn’t expecting but it didn’t save it, IMHO. The performers, well let’s just say they weren’t my cup of tea. Corny, that’s my over all take on this one. I’d say skip it unless you don’t mind rolling your eyes a lot. This might be one I return.

Oh Yay!

I had this one pre-ordered and I’m glad I did. We’ve been building up to this and it’s not disappointing. The performance was spot on, as usual. I like having new male leads (except when she used the villain from Book 1 as the lead in Book 3). The story line was pretty predictable but enjoyable none the less. I kept trying to figure out HOW she was going to work in Baker, since I know there’s another book to be ecked out of these Hawaiian guys. Looks like I’ll be pre-ordering Jodelle.

Better than the previous one

I did get a free copy to review. *disclaimer* So, a problem here is that I’ve read ahead…that aside, I liked the narration better than the previous episode. Although there were the mandatory sex scenes, and they were hot, we also find out more about the Hive and the Curse. I see this being pursued as we move along. I’m just not sure how far we can take it, although the Ice Planet found a way to keep the streak alive (another long-winded, but nice, Alien/Romance series). Happy listening!

Sorry to say, but I struggled to get through this. Actually, I’d read the book & it was okay-ish. I got a free copy of the audio book to review. You know how you “hear” characters in your head when reading? Well, Ms. Vincent & Mr. Catalano just didn’t do it for me. I had to push myself to finish. Oh well. Maybe the other books in the series will redeem itself.
