Loved it
Revisado: 02-24-23
It is pretty slow in the beginning, but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down. Very well done narration. It was well written and the plot wasn’t recycled. I put off reading this because it wasn’t ACOTAR, but I wish I hadn’t. SJM is so good at making you feel connected to the characters. It was one of my favorite books. Highly recommend

Historia
Ignorant of civilization and cautioned against its evils, nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return. As months pass, hope vanishes. Supplies are low. Livestock are dying.

Pretty good
Revisado: 12-22-22
I liked this book. It was a quick read and I enjoyed the plot. It had a twist I didn’t see coming and I don’t think it was completely unbelievable, like other reviews suggested.

With a bit of insight into the Native American culture, paired with a larger understanding of how the settlers of the west actually lived, you'll be able to decipher what happened to the Oatman family of your own accord, empowering an honest understanding of this history. In The Captivity of the Oatman Girls, you’ll discover powerful insight into the truth of the relations between the settlers and the Plains Indians of North America, why the actions of the colonists in the late 18th century bordered genocide - and how this shifted the landscape forever, and more.

Unexpected but Fantastic
Revisado: 09-30-21
This book was a very pleasant surprise! It explores more than just the story of the Oatman girls. I think it came across as relatively objective, and had an important overall message that is very relevant today.

Historia
Two estranged sisters, Lillian and Adelia, struggle to come to terms after the mother they've believed to be dead for the past 15 years actually passes away. Confused and in shock, they travel together to the isolated village of their childhood to claim the farm that was passed on to them. There’s comfort in returning to this place of their birth, where a simpler, rustic life feels possible - but the sisters quickly realize that something is very wrong with the village and that their mother was hiding more than they could have ever imagined.

I need more.
Revisado: 09-06-21
This was a quick easy read. It has an interesting plot, but I wish it had gone into more detail. The ending felt anti-climatic and I was definitely left wanting more… but not necessarily in a good way.
