Historia
In the “compellingˮand “pitch perfectˮ follow-up to Tana French’s runaway best seller In the Woods, Cassie Maddox has transferred out of the Dublin Murder Squad - until an urgent telephone call brings her back to an eerie crime scene. The victim looks exactly like Cassie and carries ID identifying herself as Alexandra Madison, an alias Cassie once used as an undercover cop. Suddenly, Cassie is back undercover, to find out not only who killed this young woman, but, more importantly, who she was.

Good murder mystery, but way too long
Revisado: 07-01-24
The book is about the death of a woman who had assumed a false identity and the undercover officer who assumes the deceased persona in an attempt to flush out the killer. When the story stays focused on the ,” who dun it,” aspects of her story, it is extremely well done. However, the book at time wonders from discovering, “who dun it,” to a discussion of the psychological idiosyncrasies of each of the characters. When the book deviates away from the central question, “who dun it,” it becomes more of a soap opera than a mystery.
I would recommend a more focused mystery by the same author entitled, “The Trespasser.” A great Irish police procedural.

Historia
Les Troubadours go viral with their new number, “Song for Catalonia,” when the Spanish government suddenly bans it. The songwriter, Joel Martin, is a local enthusiast for the old Occitan language of Périgord and the medieval troubadours, and he sympathizes with the Catalan bid for independence. The success of his song provokes outrage among extreme Spanish nationalists. Then a stolen car on a Périgord back road collides with a deer. The driver and passengers disappear but leave behind a distinctive bullet for a state-of-the art sniper's rifle that can kill at two kilometers.

Revisado: 02-05-24
This is yet another installment of a nice, cozy mystery. the narrators voice, tone, and pace truly fit the dialogue and story. the negatives are the story itself doesn’t really make sense, and the story takes too long to get to the resolution of the murder. I’ve listened to the previous books on tape in the series and quite frankly, they all were much much better than this one. Certainly read the others but skip this one.

solid golden age mystery too complicated for audi
Revisado: 01-08-24
Read the book. The mystery is a good solid golden age British mystery. The reader is great. But the “wrap up” as to who did what and how is too complicated on audio. I felt like I needed to be taking notes. Read the book.

Another solid Sydney Chambers mystery series
Revisado: 12-02-23
This is the 5th book in a series of 6. Each book is comprised of 6 or so short cozy mysteries. The protagonist is a Canon in the Church of England, Canon Sydney Chambers. The mysteries are really secondary to the main thrust of each story which is the life and relationships of Canon Chambers. That said, Canon Chambers is an exceptionally likable person and each mystery is very true to life. A thoroughly enjoyable series.
