Historia
In this episode, Peter Goeman and Doug Bookman team up to review Al Mohler's interview of Daniel Hummel, concerning his book, "The Rise and Fall of Dispensationalism." Goeman and Bookman assess the interview and discuss the kinds of objections that are often brought up against dispensationalism as a system. Topics covered: whether dispensationalism is a valid way of interpreting the Bible, whether dispensationalism originated with Darby, whether dispensationalism is too complicated, and whether it is significant that dispensationalism is waning in the academy. Mohler on Dispensationalism
Revisado: 10-18-23
This podcast is an excellent response to Al Mohler’s recently published view on dispensationalism. As is common with most critics of dispensationalism, Mohler demonstrated a profound lack of knowledge of the position he presumes to attack. Bookman and Gaemon show how, rather than being a system imposed upon the Bible, dispensationalism is fundamentally a review of progressive revelation (how God gave us the Scriptures from start to finish). It is a straight-forward reading of the meaning of Scripture without imposing a theological system on the Bible. Reading the Bible through the lens of a confession is indeed like a scientist reading a microscope through the lens of a bug!

Historia
In this illuminating audiobook, Thomas Kidd draws on his expertise in American religious history to retrace the arc of this spiritual movement, illustrating just how historically peculiar that political and ethnic definition (white Republican) of evangelicals is. He examines distortions in the public understanding of evangelicals and shows how a group of “Republican insider evangelicals” aided the politicization of the movement. This book will be a must-listen for those trying to better understand the shifting religious and political landscape of America today.

I’ve read better on the subject!
Revisado: 03-26-21
Poor reader! He mispronounced the names of several of the key historical figures. I disagree significantly with the author’s bias, but that is his prerogative. I would only recommend the book with some significant reservations. BTW, I consider myself an evangelical pastor.
