Good balance between well thought out sci-fi and a good story with characters you like and respect.
Revisado: 01-19-24
This reminded me of the really good parts of Robert Heinlein. The narrator was very good. The pace was just right to be able to relax and think about the ideas, and the story transformed in believable ways. A new to me interpretation of the grandfather paradox and other good ideas.
I’ll be a fan if the next book continues or if it is another story with these characteristics.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Character was a bratty kid who got into and out of trouble
Revisado: 11-05-23
Rosario Dawson was awesome in every way. But the charters and the drama were not so interesting. Some science and engineering but not enough. If I knew how to tell you how to make it better I would be a writer.

Not as good and not a complete story either
Revisado: 11-23-21
This story is unfinished. Unlike the first two books, which are both complete, clever, thoughtful, and well paced, this book is slow, tedious, and unfinished. Instead of delighting us with a combination of mind-bending science, clever characters, and well paced plots this book was "playing it safe." Way too much time spent on the inner thought lives and plaintive emotions of the main characters, leaving story unfinished. I wanted to write a 5-star review so he would have more readers and give us many more adventures, but this was slow, it left many threads of story lines unfinished. I felt very let down. Maybe if the balance between character motivations and the evolution of the story is restored to what we were given in the first two books of this series, book 4 will be enjoyable and make this series a classic delight. I would almost say skip this book. Almost.
But, the promise remains. He has great concepts: the nature of consciousness and intelligent life; destabilizing nature of superior engineering and computation & time travel; religious reality is relative, and more. The voice actor is terrific. Please get rid of the music.
I WILL buy book four, but please give us your best, as you did in the first two books. They were equal to the best sci-fi I have ever read. I'll be waiting.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Tedious until sound effects made it unbearable
Revisado: 05-11-21
Tedious until sound effects made it unbearable. The story was spoiled. Let us create our own special effects. That is the joy of a book.

Historia
Belisarius is a quantum man, an engineered Homo quantus who fled the powerful insight of dangerously addictive quantum senses. He found a precarious balance as a con man, but when a client offers him untold wealth to move a squadron of warships across an enemy wormhole, he must embrace his birthright to even try. In fact, the job is so big that he'll need a crew built from all the new sub-branches of humanity. If he succeeds, he might trigger an interstellar war, but success might also point the way to the next step of Homo quantus evolution.

Really good science fiction
Revisado: 09-10-20
We all know that science-fi is usually not true to all known science. But, like the great sci-fi writers, as few rules of science and math as possible are broken. He creates a world made possible by a believable extrapolation in science and human nature. He also explores extrapolations of neuroscience and the essence of what it means to be you, and conscious. The plot is clever and the pace is perfect. The actor reading The Quantum Magician is marvelous too. It really is the best sci-fi I’ve read in years.

I listened to this on Audible. Dr. Lincoln is masterful in his delivery and explains. I only rated it 4 Stars because there are times when it really would be helpful to have the diagrams and equations.

Compelling, and his writing makes the concepts understandable. I also bought the Kindle version and together the experience is delightful.
