Historia
Essie would do anything for her kingdom...even marry an elf prince she just met that morning. The human kingdom of Escarland and the elven kingdom of Tarenhiel have existed in an uneasy peace after their last wars ended with both kings dead. As tensions rise once again, desperate diplomacy might be the only way to avert war. If only negotiations between elves and humans were that simple.

A fabulous series starter by a new (to me) author
Revisado: 02-27-21
I consider myself fairly picky but I took the chance on buying this audiobook by a new to me author. Especially so since I have been in a rut lately and nothing seems to be keeping my attention. Well this book was really a wonderful find and hooked me right away! I imediately went and bought all of this author's back catalog and have been working my way through. This author is now definitely on my "auto buy" list.

Historia
In this stunning conclusion to the After The Rift series, Josie and her friends return home to find Glancia on the brink of war and their enemies in power. With political machinations and court intrigue bringing danger at every turn, they must tread carefully. But being careful won’t bring resolutions and answers. It won’t bring back lost memories or stop the nation hurtling into war.

A great ending to the series!
Revisado: 07-07-20
It was sad to come to the end of this series, but the author did a great job with it. The loose ends were all tied up without being rushed as often happens in a series of this scope. So many times I am disappointed in an ending, but this time the author did a great job and there was a bit of a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. The narrator was fabulous as always and I will definitely look for other books by this narrator and author in the future.

Good story, not so good narrator
Revisado: 02-02-20
I love this author and was on a binge listening to all of the available audiobooks by her and really enjoyed them all except for this one. I really tried, started it three times but the narrator was terrible. She has a very lispy voice which makes all of the characters, especially the men, sound really odd and effeminate. Definitely not my favorite which is a shame because the story is good.

Very well done!
Revisado: 12-22-19
I really enjoyed this audiobook and it kept my attention through a busy couple of days when I was multitasking getting ready for Christmas visits (no small feat!!). The story was engaging, moved at a good pace, and worked well for an audiobook. I always say for an audiobook to work well it has to be a bit humerous, not too many exotic names, a bit pulpy and have a good story line to keep you interested as you do other tasks. And of course a goo narrator. This narrator took a bit to get used to in the beginning but I ended up liking her. I would definitely purchase more audiobooks from this author in the future!

Historia
Lady Elyssa despises her echoes - the creatures who look just like her and copy her every move. But it’s only the echoes that mark her as a high noble, someone elite enough to marry the king’s youngest son, Jordan. She can’t get rid of the echoes, so instead she amuses herself by torturing them when no one is looking. But there’s something Elyssa doesn’t know: Her casual cruelty has brought one of the echoes to life. And this echo, Hope, is learning to think and speak and act on her own.

Another great addition to the series. I hope this isn't the last we see of this world. My only criticism would be I would have liked to see some of the political aspects fleshed out a bit more. Very impressed with the entire series but it left me wanting more :)

Historia
In the royal city of Camarria, a street urchin named Chessie lives by her wits, always attended by her two faithful friends, Red and Scar. What no one realizes is that the “friends” are really echoes, creatures that look exactly like their originals but who possess no volition of their own. Echoes normally are only born to high nobles, and Chessie doesn’t want anyone to start asking questions about her past. So she’s developed the ability to move between bodies so rapidly that she can maintain the illusion that she and Red and Scar are three separate people.

News soon comes that Marguerite has been invited to the royal city as a potential bride for the crown prince. Brianna is delighted to accompany Marguerite to the city - and perhaps get a chance to continue her own flirtation with Nico, one of the king’s inquisitors. A great start to a new Shinn series
Revisado: 07-15-19
Sharon Shinn writes serious comfort fantasy - and this one doesn't let down. The echoes are a very interesting concept and as always her characterization very well done. This one reads more like her Twelve Houses series with a lot of political drama. I am so excited that these three were released together so I don't have to wait for the next book. As far as the narrator - at first I thought I would hate her - I really don't care for high pitched very girly voices - but once the story started I thought she did a good job.

One of my favorite Audiobook series!
Revisado: 06-18-19
I am really enjoying this series - it has everything going for it. First of all, the story is engaging and makes me look forward to each new installment. I have read a few other books by this author and this is by far my favorite. It's an Alladin type retelling but not in a too obvious way. The world is interesting and the story is very character driven. Marian Hussey does an amazing job as a narrator and really puts you into the story. I can't wait for the next book in the series to be released!

Even better than the first book in the series!
Revisado: 01-19-19
It says a lot when the second book in a series is even better than the first (which I enjoyed a lot). The main characters and the side characters are all very well done and not just two dimensional. I really can't wait for the next book to come out. The narration was once again awesome with really good male and female voices.

Historia
The king's magnificent palace was built in a matter of weeks. No one saw the builders, no villagers are allowed beyond the gilded gate, and only one servant has ever left. The haunted look in her eyes as she was recaptured by the palace guards is something Josie, daughter of the village doctor, has never forgotten. For Josie, the palace is a mystery that grows more intriguing after she meets the captain of the guards, a man known only as Hammer, as mysterious and captivating as the palace itself. Whispers of magic fuel Josie's desire to uncover the truth, but an ordinary girl like her can only dream of ever being invited inside.

Fantastic story
Revisado: 01-19-19
I really enjoyed this book and quickly ordered and listened to the second book in the series. Really well done with an interesting story and well fleshed out characters. I was in a bit of a book burnout when I picked this one up (had started and discarded about ten audiobooks in a row) but this one caught me from the get go. Very well narrated. Can't wait for the next book in the series to be released.
