Historia
For five grand a month and a million-dollar chaser, Roger Mulligan didn't care how crazy the old geezer was. All he had to do was keep Joseph Perry Shackleford alive and keep him from squandering the estate for a year. But they didn't tell him about the pixies.

An hour to install the internet...
Revisado: 04-17-25
The wizard part of the story is barely noticeable, and could probably be easily edited out. It is a short story made long with grueling details on food being delivered and taken away, household chores and repeated references to how the job fit the very flat protagonist. The book spends MORE than an hour installing internet, computers and a printer in a house.

Historia
A mind-blind scholar outwits the mages who disdain him. A gold mage must secure a bank vault from a monster capable of obliterating entire cities. An aging basketweaver wakes up one morning to find a brand new river in front of her house. A palace-sized octopus seeks to defend his city from a living fortress of bone—if he can get his arms to cooperate. In these twenty-four short stories set in the world of Mage Errant, John Bierce explores the murky depths of history, forgotten corners of Ithos and beyond, and the strangest reaches of magic itself.

Nice extra world building for mage errant
Revisado: 04-11-25
If you enjoyed mage errant, you'll enjoy this anthology. I preferred the earlier stories, but it was good throughout.

Historia
Thara Celehar has lost his ability to speak with the dead. When that title of Witness for the Dead is gone, what defines him? While his title may be gone, his duties are not. Celehar contends with a municipal cemetery with fifty years of secrets, the damage of a revethavar he’s terrified to remember, and a group of miners who are more than willing to trade Celehar’s life for a chance at what they feel they’re owed. Celehar does not have to face these impossible tasks alone.

It is a solid conclusion of the series, most of the lose ends got wrapped up. It was paced a bit different the the first two, and I think they were better, but still a good book and worth a credit!

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Wow, it's terrible
Revisado: 03-19-25
The book is entirely based around the juvenile thoughts and actions of a (supposedly) post pubescent girl being forced into a (supposedly) impossible situation by mom-daughter issues and a love triangle. Said love triangle is between the girl's childhood friend with good intentions (the good boy beholden to the rules) but who, in trying to protect her, is just holding her back while her blood enemy slash authority figure (bad boy rule breaker with a heart of gold) helps her from the 'shadows' get stronger. Oh, there's also dragons, magic and an impeding magical cataclysm, but really who cares about that when you can hear about the bad boy's gold flecked eyes or how the good boy is only looking out for the main character but follows the rules. Eyebrows are raised, smirks are abundant, dialogue is what you'd expect from a group of young teens. Gave it 10 hours of my life and it didn't get better.

Historia
Thea is a washed-up mimic exterminator who expected more out of life, not some hero from stories. Aven is an impulsive wandering adventurer whose personal goddess is constantly getting her into trouble. Neither of them has the slightest interest in getting involved in world-shaking historical events. History doesn't care what they want, unfortunately. It's fallen right into their laps in the shape of a god-slaying weapon from a fallen civilization. Thrown together out of chance, Thea and Aven will have to learn to work together if they want to survive their pursuers.

Okay, but not as good as it was hyped to be
Revisado: 09-10-24
Definitely an okay listen, but it wasn't as good as other, similar titles (Andrea Vernon). Wasn't particularly innovation or engaging and Wheaton's voice range for different characters occasionally caused some confusion as to who was talking. Overall, okay.

Historia
More than a year after she helped save the world from the Sparnaxian invasion, Andrea Vernon is in a good place. Her boss is giving her greater responsibility and she’s getting to travel a lot (although her fill-in is hopeless at making coffee); things could be getting even more serious with her 8’ 4” superhero boyfriend, The Big Axe; and she has a really fun new BFF, Never More. Small issue, though, with that last item - Never More is a supervillain bent on world domination, and it looks as if nothing can stop her.

Very interesting story, enough to struggle through the flat computer voice
Revisado: 08-25-24
The story has enough questions and interesting characters to keep you listening but it was honestly a struggle to get through the computer voice. The lack of differentiation between characters in a conversation was often confusing as was the complete lack of (appropriate) tone. The story was done a disservice by not having a human reader.

Interesting start but...
Revisado: 08-08-24
The first couple of books were interesting but then I realized it was going to be a many, many book series. After three long books there was no end in sight and a great deal of repetition of training and incremental improvement of the main character. Overall good, but I'm not sure if I am in for the very long haul this series represents.

Meh
Revisado: 07-22-24
The background story was interesting but the characters were as boilerplate and flat as I have heard in a long time. The editing was also not great, some confusing breaks and perspectives/time changes throughout.
