Slightly annoying but good info
Revisado: 09-23-24
Overall the information is good but i had a few issues.
I found the author annoying. The whole book is drawn out with a lot of details that don’t add much to the content. It could have been much more concise. I cringed at her over-protective parenting. Concern for her child is one thing but her responses seemed unreasonable. It was her own choice to move to a different country and then she was upset and thought everyone should change their ways to suit her and her daughter.
The narrator wasn’t bad but her “french accent” (especially the husband’s) sounded indian. You’d think they would hire someone who could do a french accent who’s reading a book about france.

Historia
Thanks to environmental pollutants, iodine deficiency has become a worldwide epidemic. Everybody knows pollutants cause cancer. What they don't know is that these pollutants cause a deficiency that can make us sick, fat, and stupid. Iodized salt - supposedly a solution to iodine deficiency - is actually a nutritional scam that provides a false sense of security. The Iodine Crisis explains how we became so deficient, then shows the time-tested solution to reversing many conditions.

Helpful book. Wrong narrator choice
Revisado: 06-19-24
The narrator was not right for this book. This is a parenting book that relates information but the narrator sounded like she was reading a fictional story and her voice sounded nervous. We needed an informational speaker type for this book.
The actual book was helpful.

While Laura Ingalls grows up in a little house on the Western prairie, Almanzo Wilder is living on a big farm in New York State. Here Almanzo and his brother and sisters help with the summer planting and fall harvest. In winter there is wood to be chopped and great slabs of ice to be cut from the river and stored. Time for fun comes when the jolly tin peddler visits or, best of all, when the fair comes to town.

I read little house in the big woods and little house on the prairie as a child. When I became an adult I decided to revisit them. Best decision ever. This time I read the entire series and I plan to read it to my children, too. there’s so much to love and appreciate about these books!!

Historia
Roger Stringer grew up in rural Mississippi, hunting and eating everything from deer to rabbits. When he had two sons, Zac and Justin, he gave them guns and took them to the woods as well. Then one day when the boys were home alone, he got a call from Zac that Justin had been shot. What follows is an intimate and gripping memoir about the shooting’s aftermath. The story moves between the perspectives of Roger and Zac as they take us through their journey of betrayal, redemption, and ultimately confrontation with a company that had kept its corruption a secret for decades.

Eye-opening and redeeming
Revisado: 12-18-23
I liked that they could talk about the changes that need to occur in America specifically without being extremists about gun control. People are usually so divided on this issue they can’t have a reasonable conversation.
I thought this book was a great way to discuss the dangers of guns and the tragedy that can occur when companies cut corners and people aren’t careful.
I also loved getting to see how God worked in their situation— though I know that these days God is disregarded, He is still working. That was so clear in this story. Only God can redeem a situation like this in the way He did. The parallels between the father and the son, the timing of the situation, the results, could only be the work of the living God.

Forget your old name. Forget your parents." These are the things Euphrosyne’s grandparents and counselor tell her. About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Could have been so good
Revisado: 06-14-23
I think this story has the potential to be so great and romantic… but it’s just not. It falls flat. Bella and Edward act like immature children and they are so insecure and silly. I guess that’s why it’s for teens but come on! Bella is the worst. She’s immature, transparent, depressive, no fun and almost angry and violent toward the guy she likes. It’s as if the whole story is to show how much Bella can suck and Edward is still attracted to her. But i don’t even know if Edward IS attracted to her. I think he just wants someone to be obsessed and protective over. He’s protective like a body guard dad and it’s just not sexy at all. He pretty much rejects all her advances (which i get that he’s a vampire and all that) and he just doesn’t seem masculine at all. He magnifies Bella into this amazing person but i think it’s because she’s the only person who’s mind he can’t read, therefore he can imagine she’s something she’s not because he can tell himself she’s mysterious and interesting instead of ordinary like everyone else.

Revisado: 05-24-23
This was a very intriguing and interesting plot. Different from the same old mysteries I’m used to. I didn’t care for the very end but other than that i enjoyed it. If you’re looking for an interesting mystery that has surprise/suspense but not horror this is a good one.

Historia
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Revisado: 04-12-23
In my 20s rereading this series from my childhood and i love it so much. It’s inspiring how pioneers had to make a life — we take so much for granted these days. These are great books for kids and adults alike. I plan on reading these to my children when they are older. Perfect narration
