Great rendition but would change the performance a little bit
Revisado: 08-07-24
I really like how the author takes the tale of Snow White and gives her own rendition as if her historical fiction were the origin of the tale. It's very interesting and well-thought.
If I could change anything, it would be a slight tweak in the performance of the narrator. She has a nice femenine voice but she over-does it when performing the character of Sophie. She makes Sophie sound more like a child than a young woman. It's different from the voices she uses for the other female protagonists in other books by this author and it's a little distracting.

An unthinkable danger. An unexpected choice. Annabel, once the daughter of a wealthy merchant, is trapped in indentured servitude to Lord Ranulf, a recluse who is rumored to be both terrifying and beastly. Her circumstances are made even worse by the proximity of Lord Ranulf's bailiff - a revolting man who has made unwelcome advances on Annabel in the past.

A Blessing to read
Revisado: 08-03-24
I love historical fiction and this story is a great tribute to Beauty and the Beast. A very different tale with similar themes. I also love how values from the Bible were used.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Well-written and entertaining
Revisado: 03-04-20
Stephen King is a great writer. I enjoy the way he unfolds this story on paper. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 star, is because there were sections that I thought could have used clearer explanations or more exposition. Also, the tone of the novel, being very dark, really wore on me and I found myself just wanting to get to the end to finish it. It is the longest book I've ever read so far.
The narrator did a great job.
