Historia
After years of watching patients cycle through her practice, Dr. Gabrielle Lyon noticed a pattern. While her patients struggled with a wide range of conditions, they all suffered from the same core problem: they had too little muscle rather than too much fat.

Where’s the strength and muscle?
Revisado: 04-08-25
Reading the title (which has the word “strong” in it) and the first paragraph of the description which lists Dr. Lyon as the founder of the Institute for Muscle-Centric Medicine, I was expecting a read on the science of how muscle and/or strength gains could lead to health and/or longevity; that it was definitively not.
It is a book delivered in the self-help narrative style that focuses on nutrition more than anything other than promoting her (oddly self-named) protocol with a bit of public-service/anti-establishment messaging sprinkled in. Also, it far too often covers specific topics/anecdotes, particularly about women’s health, that are just not widely applicable.
Total waste of my time and money. Oh yeah, the narration was hard to listen to.

Bizarre virtual narration
Revisado: 02-05-25
I like what this guy had to say but this virtual narration was bizarre. I understand how it mistakes “12 - 15 sets” as “twelve ‘minus’ fifteen sets” and even stranger examples but it seems to be repeating entire sections or chapters or something. U can’t use this without the physical book either. Too hard to envision the routines and images etc.

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

Bad story terrible performance
Revisado: 01-22-25
I expect better from Crichton. This story was patently outlandish and all created just to make a referendum on the climate change narrative. Ie he wanted to make a statement and made a story to do that; not create a good story that had a narrative.
The audio was the worst I have heard. During pauses in the telling I could hear gurgles in his throat and for a good portion of the story at the beginning I could hear what I think was his stomach rumbling. What!?

Great up until the end
Revisado: 09-24-23
Allen Eskens had a really great story going but then he fell into the same trap many authors do by turning the ending into a caper with implausible situations and timing. Instead of just taking the story to a solid ending, he felt the need to add a whole bunch of thriller, edge of seat situations. I mean two kidnappings each with different perpetrators and victims!? Really!? What separates a great book from a good one is not having this need.

Don’t waste your time
Revisado: 09-06-23
This story was very poor. First, no one carry’s this all consuming, intense trauma for so long and on top of it actually have people supporting them. The time travel part was ridiculous. So, he nearly instantly masters time travel. Ok fine. If that was just a dogma then so be it. But no. He seems not to be able to master it later. He brings in an old friend who happens to be a physicist. Ugh. Then, that guy throws out a few advanced physics theories that really never go anywhere. I can’t believe they even published this. I am actually putting it down before I reach the finish. I don’t care how it ends but reviews lead me to believe that is pointless as well.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Voice modulation terrible
Revisado: 09-02-23
This was poorly recorded, edited or whatever. The voice went from ear piercing to inaudible by character. I had to keep my phone on my hand to keep adjusting volume which really wasn’t feasible.

Unfeasible plot and full of holes
Revisado: 05-27-23
To start, the plot was beyond ridiculous. If the authorities up to the chief were in on it, why use Sam at all. Just get the girl at the airport with the same team that got her in the woods? And why even wait so long to do it? All fiction books have an edge of fantasy, but this was over the top.
Ok, putting that aside, what was this conspiracy anyway? Was Terry in on it or not? That is the stupidest of all the plot inconsistencies. Sam tells her to stay away. Owen (i think that was that chiefs name), who we learn is in on the rescue suspends her and tells her to stay away. Julia shoots Terry and then makes a comment about the bulletproof vest and congratulating herself for telling her to wear it, which implies collaboration. When was that explained and since Julia was in on it with Owen, why wasn’t he in on it with Terry. Why didn’t Terry tell Sam she was in on it and start a more cogent strategy? Omg, I could go on but the nonsense is making my head ache.
