Another solid entry into the series
Fun
Environmental messaging as always but enough humor and mystery to keep it from being heavy handed or tedious

Historia
Interest in George MacDonald, a 19th century Scottish writer, has flourished in recent decades. Known primarily as a pioneer in fantasy literature, he is equally revered as a Victorian sage whose sermons greatly influenced C.S. Lewis. However, while literary studies on MacDonald abound, there are few attempts to explore MacDonald’s philosophical thought. Because MacDonald avoided being stereotyped – he often eludes classification in the fields of theology and philosophy. Moreover, his style of writing can border on the mystical. But was MacDonald truly a mystic? He shares the ...

Take one look at Kevin Smith: He's a balding fatty who wears a size XXL hockey jersey, shorts, and slippers year-round. Not a likely source for life advice. But take a second look at Kevin Smith: He changed filmmaking forever when he was twenty-four with the release of Clerks, and since then has gone on to make nine more profitable movies, runs his own production company, wrote a best-selling graphic novel, and has a beautiful wife and kids. So he must be doing something right.

Historia
SHADOWS AND CHIVALRY studies the influence of George MacDonald, a nineteenth-century Scottish novelist and fantasy writer, upon one of the most influential writers of modern times, C. S. Lewis - the creator of Narnia, literary critic, and best-selling apologist. While other books, quoting Lewis himself, have only mentioned the fact that Lewis called MacDonald his "master," and that MacDonald's Phantastes helped "baptize" Lewis's imagination, this study attempts to trace the overall effect of MacDonald's work on Lewis's thought and imagination. Without ever ceasing to be a story of one man's...

Historia
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

At first I thought this was just a reworking of Frankenstein with a kinder Dr.
However as the story progressed there was more at play here. While Frankie explores science unfettered and God and man, Poor Things explores gender roles, parenthood, perspective (Think Roshomon) and a variety of other things. Well worth your time and with some unusual surprises.
