A good introduction to shadow work
Revisado: 04-08-25
I started hearing about shadow work in a series I was listening to. The Dexter series, but in the third book he was having an internal crisis and he started doing some research. He touched on some of the research and the solutions being “Jungian” in nature and naming so of the titles like “inner shadow” and shadow work. What Dexter was feeling in the book is similar to what I’ve been struggling with for quite a while but I didn’t know how to describe it or relate it to anyone. Disconnected from who I thought I should be is probably the closest I can get after listening. So I went down my own rabbit hole of research of my inner shadow and I came across this book.
It being part of my membership helped me to just give it a try and see what all this was about. This book didn’t help me directly but it gave me a really good idea on what my problem has been. It gives some tips on how to start and what the process should look like but it didn’t seem to be whole story. I know I have some work to do but this book has helped point me in the right direction.
Thanks for that, by the way. I now have something tangible to help me along in my journey.

Convoluted story line with delusions of grandeur
Revisado: 07-02-24
First of all let me preface this with the idea that if you’re looking for a deal and something to play in the back ground to make you ask yourself “WTF?” for 108 hrs then this is the book for you! (or I suppose partial book series to be more accurate)…
It all starts off innocently enough but after a couple of weird turns in the beginning you really start to question if this story was meant for adults…. Then a few cuss words start being used and sexual situations start being presented you realize this is not meant for kids but full grown men still living in their moms basement vicariously experiencing the world through unrealistic storylines with a meaningless albeit fantastical plot.
I bought the series thinking it was a heck of deal! And the reviews were stellar. It was on sale and showed up in my feed even though I had never heard of a magitech anything…. My wife pointed to Final Fantasy and I instantly understood. But those games were fun! This was minor torture performed by an inept and unimaginative author trying to give moral justification only to replace those within a few minutes with meaningless platitudes that suddenly become necessary due to a lack of forethought in the story arch.
This is a story of gods that are jumped up mortals with extra power, lack confidence, and barely explains the purpose of worship by 50 hrs into the series. And then once it is explained doesn’t become a major role in the storyline until the end of the series when an undead goddess starts stealing other gods worshippers through propaganda and weak alliances. All in all, I’d say the author put this together in his own mother’s basement while letting his neck beard grow and hating women on 4Chan. The narrator was entertaining and did his best with what he was given. I would go so far as to say that without him reading, I would have died of boredom, confusion, and a mind-numbing, convoluted story.
The worst part was the last half of the series all chapters were called interludes, innocuous and seemingly unimportant facts become important hours later due to an ill prepared battle scene, and then other information would be introduced that lazily explained a personal situation that doesn’t make sense to even be discussed other than to give that part of the story a little school house drama.
I’m honestly hoping the author doesn’t write any more books. I’m hoping there aren’t enough people to justify him continuing the story, and overall that the world would end before someone gives him another deal to write any more stories.
Like with all bad decisions in my life, I’m hoping just 1 person will be saved by my story and in that way, I have reduced humanities suffering by one, single soul.
To your best… unless you’re the author, in that case… please stop, disappear, and don’t return.

Honesty, I’m going to listen to it. I’ve read the books once. I want to listen now. Jim bonds narration or horrible. But since I’ve bought the book and I want to experience the series again, I’m stuck. Sorry whoever picked him, he’s a terrible narrator.
