How to get rid of it
Revisado: 03-14-21
I had this for over a year and - like most people on here - cold not figure out how to get rid of it. I finally got on an online chat with customer service. I had 400 of these clogging up my Fire tablet. I got them to cancel the subscription and remove all of the backlog. The problem was the person who removed the old ones also removed ALL my titles from my library! That was fun. They were able to put them back in my library - but now on my devices I have to re-download all of them! Tons of fun. I told them about the reviews on this page and they said - all people need to do is contact customer service to cancel their subscription. I hope this helps someone out there avoid the mess I had.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Great book!
Revisado: 11-30-19
Don't be put off by the negative reviews. This is a great book! It did start out a little slow and I couldn't figure out where it was headed - then when things change course I got confused briefly. But, as always, Stephen King brought it all together and it was totally worth it. I didn't find it predictable at all. Great story and satisfying ending. If you love Stephen King, you'll really enjoy this book. The narration was also excellent.

It shows readers what it is to love and be loved so intensely that life is never the same again.

I couldn't love it more!
Revisado: 11-30-19
I'll admit I'm a huge fan of this movie and decided to download the audiobook so I could relive it whenever I wanted. I've listened to it probably at least a dozen times. I sometimes have trouble sleeping and putting this on and listening for a while (sometimes listening to the whole thing on nights when sleep just eludes me completely) - is so soothing. The story is beautiful and the narration is just perfect. I highly recommend it.

Awesome book, great narration
Revisado: 09-05-19
I was provided a free copy of this book at my request and am leaving a voluntary, unbiased review.
I really enjoyed this book! Very funny, insightful, witty - I wish it were longer. If swearing bothers you, you might be put off, but I think it fit the book perfectly. I listened to this book while I was going for walks and probably looked pretty funny to anyone looking at me as I walked along, alone, laughing out loud. I really hope she rights more books!
The narrator was wonderful, very pleasant voice and the perfect inflection and nuance for every word.

Loved it!
Revisado: 08-27-19
I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show with my mom; we looked forward to it each week and spent the whole hour laughing together. I recently found out that Carol Burnett is my distant cousin on my mother's side. My mom would have been thrilled to have known this when she was alive. The book brought back great memories. It was interesting, funny, insightful. Having Carol Burnett narrate it was a huge bonus; it was felt like we were having a cup of coffee together and she was telling me about her life. I highly recommend this book - you'll laugh and cry. I only wish it had been longer, I didn't want it to end!

Historia
The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need. But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

Loved it - can't wait for Book Three!
Revisado: 10-06-18
I started with Book One and I have to admit it took me a little while to warm up to it. The first person POV that kept changing was a hard to get used to. I wasn't sure I was going to even continue with the book until I was about a third of the way through it. I'm so glad I stuck with it, I'm now hooked. The characters are amazing. I think Gibbs is my favorite, the (sometimes vulgar) descriptions and comments he comes out with actually had me laughing out loud many times (which probably looks pretty strange as I like to listen to my audiobooks while I'm out running). I was so disappointed when the second book ended and I found out that the third book is not available on Audible yet. I found Joshua Gayou's website and see that Book Three should be available sometime in October or November; it's going to be tough to wait. If you are a fan of this genre don't hesitate to buy this title (and the whole series), it's absolutely worth it. I have to admit that my favorite narrator is Kevin Pierce, but R. C. Bray did a superb job with this series; he is a very close second to Kevin, they are both wonderful. He can go from being the tough ex-Marine Gibbs, to a Hispanic woman in Amanda and I instantly know who's talking.

Historia
Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.

Great book - great series!
Revisado: 07-03-18
I stumbled across this book a while back after listening to One Second After (which is also a great book). I'd never heard of this author, but I took a chance. I'm so glad I did! I've listened to all three books in this series and am (im)patiently waiting for the next one. The characters are well developed and interesting. It's refreshing to have a young woman be the strong leader. I have listened to several books narrated by Kevin Pierce and he is one of my favorites. It's amazing how he can make every character sound just different enough so that you know instantly who is speaking, but does not force any accent or unnatural pitch changes. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of this genre - or even if you're not, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Not Worth the Credit
Revisado: 05-15-18
I wish I had read through more reviews before I bought this title. Those bad reviews are spot on - way too much long drawn out descriptions for the simplest things, terrible narration, jumping from one character's perspective to another with no pause in between (we are with the main character, now where are we...oh with Thad...how did that happen?). I did finish the book, but unlike any other one, I couldn't wait for it to end. I tried to hold out a little hope that something would hold my interest and change my mind, but it did not. I don't recommend this one at all. I took a look to see and read reviews of the next book and could not believe my eyes when I saw that there are 7 books in this series....don't waste your money or your credits.
