Historia
Pearl Tull is nearing the end of her life but not of her memory. It was a Sunday night in 1944 when her husband left the little row house on Baltimore's Calvert Street, abandoning Pearl to raise their three children alone: Jenny, high-spirited and determined, nurturing to strangers but distant to those she loves; the older son, Cody, a wild and incorrigible youth possessed by the lure of power and money; and sweet, clumsy Ezra, Pearl's favorite, who never stops yearning for the perfect family that could never be his own. The ending sort of left you hanging, but otherwise pretty good overall. I don't think Pearl got enough credit for raising 3 kids in the fifties.

Historia
When 16-year-old Angel meets Call at the mall, he buys her meals and says he loves her, and he gives her some candy that makes her feel like she can fly. Pretty soon she's addicted to his candy, and she moves in with him. As a favor, he asks her to hook up with a couple of friends of his, and then a couple more. Now Angel is stuck working the streets at Hastings and Main, a notorious spot in Vancouver, Canada, where the girls turn tricks until they disappear without a trace, and the authorities don't care.

Leaves you a bit perplexed
Revisado: 11-06-24
Would have liked to know Angel made it to her family. it was depressing and gave no form of closure.

Cute story
Revisado: 06-28-24
the story was good. I listen while working and it was great for that, but need a real person to read this. I almost quit listening several times because of it being a virtual reader or whatever.
