Historia
Julie is missing, and no one believes she will ever return - except Elise. Elise knows Julie better than anyone, and feels it in her bones that her best friend is out there and that one day Julie will come back. She’s right. Two years to the day that Julie went missing, she reappears with no memory of where she’s been or what happened to her. Along with Molly and Mae, their two close friends from college, the women decide to reunite at a remote inn. But the second Elise sees Julie, she knows something is wrong - she’s emaciated, with sallow skin and odd appetites.

Creepy, to be sure.
Revisado: 04-19-20
I know that this story's description sounds a little out there. Don't be too put off. It is weird, at times maybe a little slow or repetitive, but if you hold out you'll be pleased. It's creepy.

Historia
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.

What the h.....
Revisado: 04-19-20
I was really into this story at first, and very interested to see where it would go. Unfortunately, the further along the story got, the more bizarre it got (and not in a good way). All I can say, is that it is definitely weird. Doesn't leave me with my hunger for good horror satisfied.

Historia
The gloomy Malpas Abbey has been avoided by locals for centuries. Its infamous history is marred with blood and terror. Only the foolish would dare enter such a place, where devilish hauntings have left dead bodies in its wake. Just as the building is about to be permanently closed, things take an unexpected turn. An American television crew shows up, hoping to investigate the source of the structure's paranormal activity. Led by producer Matt McKay and paranormal expert Ted Gould, the hapless bunch enter the hellish residence only to discover that they are in way over their heads.

What the heck?
Revisado: 09-07-18
Fictional horror is my favorite genre. This book wasnt what I expected, it is NOT your traditional horror story... but as it turns out, that isn't a bad thing at all. I loved this story, it had several unexpected twists and turns. It is ANYTHING but predictable, and I enjoyed not knowing what to expect. The narrator did an awesome job. His voice for the creatures was very unsettling in all the right ways, definitely creeped me out.

Historia
It doesn't seem like the perfect house, but screw it, it's good enough to rent for a year. Unfortunately for Boyd, Adeline, and their two young daughters, it's immediately clear they chose the wrong place. The nightmare begins with violent coughs and headaches. Food starts to rot almost as soon as they take it inside. A pet tarantula goes missing. Some family members begin to exhibit creepy behavior. Then the ghosts arrive, and all hell breaks loose....

What did I just listen to?
Revisado: 06-20-18
Joe Hempel is one of my favorite narrators, so I assumed that this book would be a safe choice in spite of never having read the works of Jeff Strand. I was wrong. No offense to the author, but this book was incredibly uncomfortable to make it through. I'm not a prude when it comes to gore, but so much of this was done in poor taste. The gore was the only well thought out part of the entire book, leaving the storyline and character details to feel more like an afterthought that was just thrown together.
I'm definitely going to ask to exchange this book. I still love the narrator's voice.... but I still feel like I just willingly put myself through needless hours of punishment.

Good performance, weird story
Revisado: 01-02-18
I enjoyed the performance and twist ending of this book, but the overall layout of the story was a bit hard to follow at times for me. There were also some explicit situations that I didn't enjoy. I am not usually offended by things like this, but didn't like the scandal of this situation. I also didn't like the confusion I felt during times. However, it had a good creepy factor and plenty of thrills. Overall this was a good book, not at all predictable.

Historia
There are places that hold evil, houses so vile, so tainted, that people refuse to live in them. Farnham House is one of those places. Once an inn, this majestic old New England manor house is back on the market, and the price is very reasonable. Sam Cabot is a man tired of moving. Now he wants nothing more than to live a quiet life in the country with his wife and young son.

What just happened?
Revisado: 09-15-17
I'm being generous giving this 3 stars. This book was really weird, and kinda built up to make me think something more original was going to happen. Then it just ended really strangely. I'm giving it 3 stars because it held my interest for the first couple of hours, and should have given it 2 stars because it seemed like the author got tired of writing and just pulled this ending out of a hat to end things.

At first I was a little skeptical, even after reading some of the positive reviews. I'm more of a gothic ghost story fan, but this was a very good book for me. I enjoyed the woman's voice, and I enjoyed the story .
